AP2 S2000 vs 1G 350Z 6MT
Had a really clean 60-120mph run with an older VQ35DE 6 speed 350Z on the way home from a maintenance window at work.
Race happened at around 1:40am which meant the freeways were safe & completely empty, perfect
We both started in 3rd, 3 honks and we were off.
I immediately started pulling as I got near the limiter in 3rd and as soon as I shifted 4th, I was about 2 car lengths ahead. As I got up to around 115mph in 5th, the gap had spread to around 3 car lengths .
He did have a passenger, but there was no doubt my car was faster in pretty much any gear - I think I would have done more damage had we started in 1st or 2nd.
Guy gave me the thumbsup and we both went on our way.

Thanks guys!
My car felt especially strong last night - low tank, nothing in the trunk and the ambient temperatures were cool. Car will feel even better with a fresh oil change (it's been about 5500 miles )
I've heard VQ35DE 6 speed 350Zs staying in the lower 14s and occasionally skimming 13s at around 101mph - granted my car has light bolt-ons, the pull wasn't effortless but it was clear my car was quicker.

My son has 350Z roadster 6MT. Honestly, I think his old 05 Alti 3.5SE was quicker. Granted the roadster is probably a bit heavier than the regular Z; I'd place my money on a well driven AP over the 350z any day.

I'd be down to run, but from I remember you had a bolt-on / tuned M3 ... waste of gas for the both of us.
I'd be more interested in doing a Palomar run or perhaps take it to the 94 East, there's some fun roads out there .

I was gonna goto race legal tonight but i lost my fuckin wallet and dont have my drivers license on hand. I may be reaching, but I think I can break into the high 7's on the 1/8th. I hit 9.1 in my m3 when it was pretty much stock and my 335i has like damn near twice the torque.

335i + tune + no LSD .. mountain run would definitely be interesting.
How are the brakes on the 335i? I took my car to Chuckwalla and ran it in 4 heats, average of 5 laps or so. My brakes were fading a bit, but the performance was still solid.
Car did a 3 1/2 hour drive to the race track, ran 4 heats in nearly 90° heat and drove it 3 1/2 hours home ... gotta love Honda. I saw a few E36 M3s out there and 1 x 335is and they too took the drive home - no issues to report

The brakes are decent. Mine are actually in need of replacing. I'll prolly hit heat soak in the canyons if not limp mode. my car doesn't have an oil cooler. I'll prolly keep up depending on the length of straights as my tq is in the 400+. I need an upgraded fmic asap.

Thanks man! Car is great, but you bet I still miss the J-series.
The newer developments is keeping my interest, especially on the Performance sections on V6P & AZine.
Derailing my own thread: How's that Accord been treating you? Word is your car has 12 second potential?

In terms of 12 second potential, I'm hoping With cool weather & the right launch I think it can be done, but only time will tell.
