Question what do i need for a 13 second car?

well all i have to say is i got a lot faster times then what i thought and i only lost to a 2004 ford lightning and a duramax deisel with a fuckin labtop in it and both only by 1 car length.
14.59 @ 96.6mph WAS MY BEST TIME, BUT AVERAGED AROUND THERE ALL NIGHT. i ate up a fixed up cobalt ss, 2- miata turbos, rsx turbo, nissan altima se-r, and a 2003 cobra, but he didnt know how to drive cause i beat him by 2 cars, and my brother 15.0, in a crossfire, but i beat him by 1-2 car lengths everytime..haha

80 degrees outside and about 70% humidity. not bad, being an automatic, and just a custom made intake and straight exhaust in bad weather.....

QUESTION IS, WHAT DO I NEED TO GET 13.9'S IN THE QUARTER?
1. HEADERS?
2.UNDERDRIVE PULLEY?
3. APEXI NEO-TUNE?

i would guess 30 hp max with those upgrades so your gonna need more than that, id say get some nitrous and you'll get there.

14.5 in an auto in FL weather with just intake & exhaust? That just doesn't sound right. What track?
And those other cars were not beating you? Again doesn't make sense?

But get headers & crank pulley & then you need to get traction. That's the hard part.
Hopefully the innovative mounts will help with that. I'll have to test them at the track one of these days.

How could an auto with a few bolt ons CL-S beat a rsx turbo, and 03 cobra?

Drag racing in an auto is kinda :ghey: IMO.

Well all the basic bolt ons, good supsension, wheels and tires, ditch those big heavy 19's
maybe slicks, not sure what kind of traction problems A/T's have but thats whats keeping me from getting mid 13's NA.

You can also stroke out your 3.2 to a 3.5 like typeR

wow, this is mostly a hate thread, rather than one that is informative.
figures that most everybody just wants to talk shit.
YES I RAN A 14.5, and the rest of the 9 runs were 14.6's. my best r/t was .022 as well. the cars that i beat was legit as well, except the cobra because the guy obviously should have beat me but lost by almost 2 cars, but my reaction times were good, so i had the jump on everyone.
the only mods i have are, straight exhaust and a intake that i made, plus im lowered on eibachs. it is what it is.
i think with all the bolt ons, i'll be in the 13's easily..we'll all see i guess

oh, the DESOTO SPEEDWAY in bradenton is the track i was at..fyi

i would also look into gutting the trunk and maybe removing some of the rear interior.

Are you bracket racing or this is heads up?
you have a very nice reaction time too.

its just the wrong car to be doing it in.. unless you're thinjim

with all the available bolt ons and doing a 3.5 conversion, weight reduction, you'll get there. but you have an a/t another reason why you picked the wrong car.

its like getting a cl-p and converting it to cl-s.... should have gotten the right car first then try to make it a 13 second car

dude u just dont get it ... my car was well on its way to 12 seconds ... 13.306 at 106 auto right car right attitude, 13.9 is not a problem with a bolt on auto leaving the 3.2 in place

Weight reduction or more power or a combination of both is what's needed. Have you taken a look at this thread on the TL side regarding weight reduction? It will give you an idea on the weight reductions. I'm not suggesting that you go as far as this guy but you can use this as a guide according to your situation and taste. Coco also has done some serious weight reductions and is a serious competitor.

There is nothing wrong with the car, just the wrong attitude. And that is why some will never make something of this car.

didn't say it possible i just think that the cl isn't the best car for performance...... fwd and large don't make a good canidate for a track car.... if it was rwd it be great for dragging....

i love the cl and i know the possibilities of it. its quick, but its just not the best car for dragging/tracking. if u had to pick a car all over again for this. what would you do?

Alright let's see if I can sum this up. Get the car as light as you can. Low fuel and no spare, jack, system etc. Race on a cool dry day, as heat and humidity slow you down. Ice down the manifold before you run. You will have already installed headers, a cold air intake and lightweight crank pulley. You will need lightweight wheels and drag radials too. This will get you close. There are more mods you can do, but this will get you close. Also, reaction time doesn't get measured in E.T........the E.T. clock starts when your front tire breaks the beam. Reaction time is ONLY a measure of how long after GREEN it took you to break the beam. So what I am saying is concentrate on the launch, not reaction time. If your friend is there and he has a car he says can beat you but you doubt it, then reaction time does matter as you might both turn a 14.50 but the first guy to the finish line (another beam) wins.

I can agree the CLS is not for track duty. The occasional trip down a 1/4 mile, fine. Some stop light to stop light action, fine. But not for a real track car. For that get something with a V8.

If you really want a mid 13 car in a CLS, get some traction & a 75 shot of NOS. That is all you need.
And NOS is safe on the CLS as long as your not on the bottle ALL the time.

Quick Reply: what do i need for a 13 second car?
