fluctuating with load on tranny issues
i have a 02 tl-p that i just bought a few months ago and ever since ive had it i had problems but all of them are fixed (thanks to all of you guys on azine) exept one!! i know this generation of the TL has many tranny issues and recalls especially the 5spd ... but i can seem to find to answer to this .... when im driving at around 50mph area with rpm between 1k and 2k , it fluctuates up and down around 500 rpms and thats if its under load , like going up a small hill of big or turning on a round ramp , its also doing it on 4th or 5th gear .... i changed the oil in tranny recently and planning on doing again this week end and have a new iacv and cleaned egr ports and new spark plugs and no DTC code ,,, ive noticed a little bit of slipping in between 2d and 3d but that has nothing to do with this wierd problem thats very annoying!
anyone experiencing this issue?? plz help

the trans probs are related as the shafts and gears share clutches
what atf did you use? dextron3 is a trans killer!!!!!!!!!!!
use only honda dw1 on older acura trans!!!
take it easy on hills, use SS mode shift to help force a gear if needed
atf sample to blackstone labs with 20 bucks will tell you if clutch material is present or other probs inside trans

our trans has only 2 problems, 1 recall installed an external sprayer to 2nd gear
that solved the breaking of 2nd gear from overheating due to lack of oil!
other prob is early wearout of 3rd gear clutchpacks
that got us extended warranty to 109kmiles or 7 years,,both well past now
not unusual for a used TL to have a soon to fail trans~
your options are rebuild for 2500 or see threads in main section for install used/junkyard oddesy or accord trans- certain years only for 1000-1500 total installed

drop down a gear so rpm is above 2000 in those examples of slippage you listed
see if that helps,,a different gear

i only use honda syntethic atf oil .... and it seems that if i take it easy on hills its worse , i kinda have to push the accelerator harder to make sure it drops down gears for the rpm to go higher ... and the tranny as allready been changed but no idea when and who did it cause theres a yellow aftermarket part number on it so i wouldnt know if its the dealer or if it has the external oil accelerator to second gear thing. i have 150kmiles but i have a warrenty from the dealership that will cover that if ever i need to get it changed again.

Hey Govinz, use the warranty ! But first make sure that all of your paperwork is in order.
Could be a faulty solenoid valve or something simple, let them diagnose it.

warranty sounds great and all but still dont want to use it on a quick fix i want to wait till it actually fails before using it but at the same time if it fails and have to tow it to the garage itll probably be a week before i get back my car and cant really afford that with work ....
Would there be a way that i can know if its a solenoid ??? because i know on the 4 speed one, you can take the shift solenoid out and clean the screens but on the 5 spd their different .... i have the service manual and it dont seem like theres screen to clean
