Callaway: Corvette SC627 (based on Chevrolet Corvette) news
From here:
Corvette tuner extraordinaire Callaway showed us its first take on the seventh-generation ‘Vette earlier this year and now the company has confirmed performance specs. The company has also announced pricing, with the basic ‘SC627’ package—complete with a 3 year/36,000 mile powertrain warranty—costing $17,995 when you supply the donor Corvette Stingray.
Thanks to Callaway’s third-generation supercharger design, which features an Eaton Twin Vortices Series (TVS) rotor and an intake manifold whose runner cross-section and length were tuned for a broad torque band, engineers have managed to boost output of the Corvette Stingray’s 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 to 627 horsepower and 610 pound-feet of torque.
That represents a substantial 167 hp increase in the power of the stock Corvette Stingray, while torque is up 145 lb-ft. Callaway’s Corvette SC627 even encroaches on the performance of Chevy’s own Corvette Z06, which has been confirmed with 650 hp and 650 lb-ft.
Now that calibration development is completed, production of the Callaway Corvette SC627 has commenced. Production cars have already begun shipping from Callaway's workshops in Old Lyme, Connecticut and Santa Ana, California. Some of the options available include a sport exhaust system ($2,890), a custom car cover ($540) and National Corvette Museum Delivery ($2,000).
