UPDATE!

As of now I will send the final list of people to exLED on June 3, 2013. I need everyone's PayPal email addresses by NOON on June 3. If you aren't going to use PayPal please let me know as well (you will have to call in to exLED and pay by credit card).

In the mean time I will need to get PayPal ID's from everyone that will want to be in on the group buy. I'm thinking the best way to do this would be to copy the list and send me your PayPal ID next to your Acurazine Username as a PM.

From a security standpoint that is avery bad idea and is an invitation to fraud. Perhaps people should just order directly from them and cite this group buy.

Everyone's order will be slightly different anyway so a paypal address won't help (except the fraudsters) - some will want lenses, some have wagons and some will want 2000000k bulbs.

C'mon guys - think a little. The bad guys are out there and trolling the 'net for this kind of information.

not everyone properly reads the invoice you get sent, and if someone is scamming, not saying OP is, they can send you an invoice pretending to be exLED, you pay, and they get you nothing

It isn't even the OP as it is bots that scan these boards for email addresses. With a trusted email address tied to a Paypal account and a username, a nefarious person can gather sufficient information about you to send you a sophisticated spearfishing email.

Don't believe it? Just set up a junk email account and send it around to others using PM. For good measure put it in your signature block in various boards. You'll be surprised how quickly you will receive targeted emails - and that's just from the crude ones that just sell email addresses.

MasterCard allows you to set up a "shopsafe" number for each transaction to use with unknown vendors. You can create a credit card number that is only tied to your account internally, you can limit the charges and the time allowed to make those charges. In this case you would create a shopsafe number limited to $100 with a two month expiration date. Once the vendor charges the (roughly) $100, you can "cancel" that account and the number is unusable thereafter.

Although this generation doesn't realize it yet, there are very serious threats out there - and many lurk on social media.

Correct - but the chances of falling victim to online crime are way higher.

Today I received a message from Palpay. It was a copy of an actual Paypal message. There were no typos and no mis-spelled words. There were no dire warnings and the only indication that it wasn't from Paypal was that I didn't have a Paypal account associated with that email.

Accessing the link from a safe machine brought me to another copied Paypal page with information only. No request to click a link or provide account information - but it was a drive-by that attempted to download a file to my computer.

The message was engineered to take advantage of how the mind works. We overlook mispelled words if we see something close to what we expect to see and the bad guys are getting better.

Oh - and the possibility of a lightning strike in CO is much greater than in NY.

Not saying that op is a bad dude, but the internet is a scary place.

I will check with exLED and see if we can get this worked out another way to avoid having to send PayPal emails and avoid bots from scanning this board. We do have the option of calling in the order and paying by phone with a credit card, but I will see if we can get a more streamlined option.

Great point CEB!! no offense to OP... Ive seen before on group buys that the vendor gave out a promotional code for the people that were part of the group buy so they can check out themselves

It should be fairly simple - people order by a certain date and reference the group buy. The vendor determines how many people have ordered, applies the discount, charges the cards and ships.

uhh this is different from the way Jin had me do it last time. Last time we just ordered from the site and referenced the group buy. After the deadline hit, everyone who had registered and signed up would receive an invoice and pay by themselves. no need to give out your paypal or whatever. why not do it this way again?

I have emailed Jin and am awaiting a response. I don't think it will be an issue to do it the way it was done last time.

Sorry for the confusion.

I wish this had been earlier or a bit later.

I'm waist deep in the turbo charging my car... (read buying parts and having utah tsx create said kit)

Just have to wait I suppose...

The group buy page is up on the exLED website. Here is the link: http://www.exledusa.com/?dispatch=bo...ber=187&page=1

Once the group buy is complete, my understanding is that we will all get a special coupon code to use to purchase the kit.
