hey Dav....i think its toooo early to say about being quick or fast....250 lbs of weight loss is barely 0.2 seconds on the 1/4 mile or bare another 10-20 HP wise (assuming).....so i want to say, hell yeah, but i would be lying....

my butt has gotten very very sensitive and hence i can notice the car has a lot more get up and go.....also car can navigate turns more predictably and stops quicker as well.....

i think when i loose another 100-200 lbs (seats, carpet, battery, couple interior pieces) I will be able to answer your question in a lot better manner....

I learned from Sean...he taught me as a favor for me teaching him how to live on just veggies.

PS, just realized what your avatar is NOW...Veggiemonster!!! Predator, ahhhh!!!

Anyway, he taught me, fool around with picnik.com it's free till April. Less is more. If you want cool shots, stick with basic edits...then just play around...more contrast, less contrast, brightness, color and saturation. EASY!

Then you'll go from this:

The best advice Ive heard (courtesy of Sarlacc) is "shoot, shoot, and shoot".

Just keep taking pics, playing around with settings, and find what suits you.

I dont know about you, but I can't learn by reading a book or tutorial. I learn through example or trial and error. YouTube is very good for quick tips. Im still trying to learn all I can but I find myself making the same mistakes over and over again

See Jer....more than the editing i want to give you the credit for that shot....the angle is a lot better than editing....while i was taking pictures i pretty much said to myself (what you told me before) that I need to be on my toes or elbows to get a great shot....

Morgan....i agree with you man....i cant read a book and be like "now i know".....more of a practical person....so gonna start "shooting shooting shooting" from now on LOL....lets see where it takes me....

well i guess i can only get better from where i am now....

Also, Lightroom 4 is awesome. If you have a DSLR, start shooting in RAW too. The RAW picture before editing looks like crap, but afterwards, is much better then shooting JPEG.

Anil, thanks man...yeah, honestly...I think it's not just about the car...any of our cars, for the part look cool...but taking shots that you normally wouldn't see the car in...and from angles you wouldn't see the car in and framing out the shot with trees or buildings or shadows or lights etc...

You'll get it, I'm sure! Did you see Jayvee's thread?!!?? Man...how far he came from his shots on page 1 to page 3 were pretty astounding.

So these heads will add 50 wph all on their own? Sorry, ignorant on this.

agreed....Josh got 10 folds better....

and yeah these heads will add 50 whp....what happens J is the head has restrictions and cast markings....they open up the holes and make it nice and smooth....a 5 angle job will make the opening very very smooth and the edges "razor sharp" so its "cuts" the air....

and the exhaust side has 3 angle valve job....then the cams and springs and retainers are upgraded....so well what you get is ~15% more power....so if you are sitting at 300, you will be ~345-350.....

here an article on engine head and valve job. It is an art so you can't just decide to get a dremel and PnP your own head. This is why I didn't gasket match my own head and the botto half of the runners.

There is an art to it. I didnt go all out on the heads that are on there right now, I just had them opened up.

But the next one that Im building ( ), it'll be flow benched and Im going to talk to Endyn about doing mine. Its just not cost effective for the CL right now.

But, for shits and giggles, PM me a price on them for an A2. I just got another idea that I dont like

Endyn has been around for years. Take a look at their history and even the owners Grand Sport project

I first learned about them when I got my first Civic. He had the same generation as me and used it as a parts runner. Except, it had massive balls:

http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicl...onda_civic_si/

I think it was one of the first Hondas to be featured in Hot Rod magazine.

^^^ shit that looks awesome bro....

i know there is guy in the neighborhood who gave me a damn good price for the service....where KMS was charging me $2000 he quoted me 600....but i wanted someone who has worked on Honda engines....folks in KS are muscle car lovers and hence either its tough to find a shop to work on hondas or you dont know what to expect....

just like my exhaust....i mean i love my exhaust but it has a muscle car rumble to it....

Forgot to add this:

http://www.theoldone.com/articles/la...rrys_civic.htm

This follows the new engine he built for it.

EDIT - Yea, I hear ya on finding people that know about the J. Unfortunately, when I had mine built Endyn was out of my price range and no many people really knew about it enough for me to trust them. Im not saying that theres anything wrong with Pauls builds, as its a strong engine, and hes got plenty of them running around out there.

But theres much more potential to be had out of these engines that unfortunately Paul doesnt have the tooling for (flow bench, massive CNC machine, etc). On my next project, Ill probably have him do most of the fab work, but the engine will most likely be built by the guys at Endyn.

They list prices for four cylinders, not the J series. Im not sure if they have much experience with the Js.

The Hot Rod article said a similar s/c'd D16 would run about $6k, which, for over 400whp and a low low low 11s 1/4 mile pass is not bad at all.

Id assume given the parts prices and near non existent aftermarket for the J, an NA build would cost that much. But I wouldnt be surprised if an Endyn built J running an EMS of sorts puts down 350-390whp. They have a habit of turning out mind boggling builds.

And who knows, they may even be willing to make the necessary modifications to the heads to allow us to run a much more aggressive cam

^^^ well for a full bottom end built and with heads and cams and crank shaft, i dont think 6K is a bad deal....

cams = 700
springs + retainers + valves = 600
pnp job for heads = 2000
rods + pistons = 1500 (guessing on this one)
bottom end build = 2000 (guessing again)

so if you see its 6K right here....so if i had that appetite or wanted to spend that much, i would....but i really dont wanna spend more than 2K to 2500 for the build....

Swoosh you need to suck it up and buy stage 2 cams... I really want to hear your car with them or any tl with them, I bet it sounds sooo mean. I know one member on here that put some cams in his base, but I don't believe he ever made any videos before he got rid of it for the type s. Can't remember his name off had I think it was gerzand or something close to that. Sorry I ramble a lot and get off topic but gl on build.

if you're doing a car, you have to be super aware of whats behind it. if you can get a good backdrop, keep it in, but if just in your neighborhood or whatever, find an angle that cuts it out.

if you had a slr you could use the focus and all that to cut out the background, but you just have a P&S right?

you can try using a focus tool, but lemme tell you LESS IS MORE. i've never really gotten it to look natural.

and for inspiration swoosh buddy, look how little can make such a big difference.

Re: pics

on the background. Depending on the shot, I dont like to crop out the background, but I will desaturate the background so you focus on the subject.

Re: engine

I was ecstatic that Bisi came out with cams, but I dont like the hardening they use after they regrind them. I put tons of miles on my car, so having them hardened properly is what I need. Oil hardening (what Bisi uses), sadly isnt it.

Anil, did you ever find some crush washers? I may have a couple lying around to donate. I went into Honda up here by me and he gave me a handfull. Also this past weekend I went to buy some Shin-etsu grease for my doors, he gave me a brand new tube of it for free. I love that Honda dealership.

Why people drive around with the tiptronic, I don't understand.

Anywho, maybe I should delete my e-brake to save those lbs :P

Use bricks to park.

Hmmm...Did kingkongdave just make a new username!?!

Tiptronic makes auto drivers feel more in control...not the same as manual, but it's all they've got!

If the person is as committed to removing seats and spare tires and carpet to lighten the load, I don't see why they wouldn't consider removing the ebrake. Especially after reading what Inaccurate wrote about it being extraneous.

My comments about the parking brake was based entirely on this thread linked below. As I read thru that thread again, it appears that the parking brake holds good provided that you keep the brake adjusted properly. So, I would advocate the removal of the parking brake just for the 5AT people.

6MT owners....ALWAYS leave the car parked in gear, otherwise this can happen!! (click here)
