Today's Mods
Started moding today.....first look
Then there was this
Almost there
Last but not least (tah-dah)
Even painted the gas cap latch flat black so it wouldn't look weird on top of the black carpets.
Wrap Up
BTW, that custom aluminum shift knob now shifts VERY tight and precise shifts thanks to the CT short throw shifter.
So i highly recommend to those TL'ers with Tan interiors to change over their carpets and mats. Definitely looks great. I always thought it would look good but i confirmed it when i got into a friends Audi A8 which had this color combo and it looked bad ass. My leather seats are in crappy shape and probably within the next 1.5yrs i would probably buy used black seats or get them professionally redone in black leather (maybe black leather with tan stiching). I'm not really too bothered by the rest of the tan interior yet but who knows maybe i'll soon want to replace all of those too.
PS-----Did i already say the Comptech Short Throw Shifter is AWESOME??

Thanks to all for the compliments. I think my goal of subtle mods are coming together well. The more i look at the tan/black combo, it looks really good. I really gotta got my hands on black leather seats in coming months. Also thinking about the black chrome emblems but the price is way too high.
A bit under $200

Nice work man! I just now saw this thread...impressive yet I'd be terrified having my interior stripped out like that. How much would the black leather seats cost? I'm curious as the ebony leather in my TL is starting to show its age with wrinkles. It'd be kinda cool having that new car scent once again.

I asked this question in another thread and i only got one response. Maybe if i post it on here i can get more feedback so here goes....

I have been thinking about painting my ATLP Base Exhaust flat black like JnC's exhaust below. What do you guys think? Does it look better painted flat black or factory muffler surface combination of polished and non-polished stainless?
FLAT BLACK

Thoughts??

THey are not polishes, just standard stainless. I painted them as I didnt want to attract too much attention plus I loved the flat black look .
MAS, I'd suggest painting them as the flat black will go well with your NBP.

Just painted my exhaust flat black. For the first time in a long time i drove behind my car while my wife drove it and i really hated the look of the dull, non-polished stainless mufflers and pipes sticking out like a sore thumb. I'll take pictures of this and my new interior pretty soon.
PS----I've got another exterior look mod coming soon.

Just pulled the trigger on some coilovers. I've never bought coilovers before so I hope they work out. I'm planning on finding a tight, flush look with my 8.5" wide aspecs. Wish me luck.
PS....... Look out for some pics of new mods and a sizeable for sale thread of old mods soon.

New Seats:
**Changed out my tan seats for black seats. My interior now has black seats and carpets and the rest tan. I think it looks real good. More details pics to come for those who may be interested in such a change**
New Stance:
**Changed out my A-Spec suspension for HT-Spec Type-I Coilovers. Wanted to go a bit lower and have the full height adjustability. Mor epics to come with this too for those who may be interested in this mod**
Your comments (pro or cons) are welcome.

THx for the compliments.
THis week i'm trying to give it a good wax. Gonna use the clay bar for the first time (hope it works well). My car hasn't been really waxed in years so the results should be pretty drastic (at least to the trained eye).
I gotta post up some better pics of all of the new goodies (clay/wax, painted exhaust, coilover stance, black seats). GOnna use my other camera because lately my pics look like crap and dont do the car justice.
Stay tuned!

Hey Mas, Really nice ride man. I'm brand new to this website and just got my Tl in NBP and love it but looking at your car makes me want to do a hell of a lot more. One thing I didn't see mentioned and really wanted to ask is what % of tint do you have installed? Especially because of the camel interior I don't know what to go for.

Your car looks great man! One day I'll do an ebony interior swap.

Thx for the good comments guys.
WHen i bought the car i decided to go with light tint to make contrast with the black car (if i would have bought a white TL i would have put REALLY dark tint). So i put 35% llumar tint all around (including front). Normally tinting the front is just asking for trouble but i knew if i kept the rest of the tints light & with the tan interior (so much for that) & opening the sunroof shade whenever i swing by a cop....all of this would make the front 35% tint unnoticeable. So far i've had the car for almost 5 yrs now (i think) and have only had one cop stop me for front tint years ago (knock on wood). THen my tint guy pointed out to me that he normally tint the rear glass a shade darker because of how close the rear deck is to the window it makes the rear tint look lighter. No shit, it soo true (look at other cars and see for yourself). SO i put 20% in the rear and it really evened out the look and provided better sun coverage for this FL heat.
Sorry for the long answer but i thought i would give you the whole story. BTW, make sure you or your tint guy puts moleskin on the door tints (google it). TL's are notorious for scrapping permanent lines into the door tint. Do this moleskin one time and never worry about it again.
I'll definately take some more pics of the black seats with tan interior. Just waiting to make time to clean the inside of the car. Recently moved an my to-do list is so long i'm forced to neglect the TL
I have definately thought about changing the tailights...at least even just doing the Type-S tails but i havent seen any that really convince me and i kinda like the factory look.
I had a all tan interior. I swapped the seats and carpet to black (left the rest tan)....looks pretty good if you ask me

oh, here's a quick comparison for before and after of my exhaust with factory finish and now painted flat black. As someone mentioned the ATLP exhaust is a non-polished stainless steel and therefore it easily looks dull after a while. Props to JPTL04 for polishing his entire exhaust....it makes a real difference. I couldnt go that route so i decided to paint it flat black (thanks to Jnc for the idea). I was on the fence with it for a long time, after all once you paint it it's going to be almost impossible to go back. I finally made the decision a couple weeks ago when my wife was driving my car in front of me while i followed her in her car. I could not stand the look of the dull stainless pipes sticking out like a sore thumb. That was it decision made....i immediately stopped and picked up some high temp paint and painted it that night. I think it looks much better . WHat do you think?
