2.5 Differential drain and fill DIY
This post is very similar to KaMLuNg's writeup. Cross reference the 2 threads for the best info.
1. Jack up vehicle and secure it with stands. Remove drivers side front wheel and follow the axle to the plug. It has a square on the end for a 3/8" drive.
2. Find the fill hole and remove this FIRST! I used a small exhaust pipe to break it free. It went FAST, so be careful!
3. Remove the drain bolt. Notice my pipe for leverage.
4.Let it drain fully. Clean the plug. DIRTY!!
Scrape the sludge out.
5. Replace drain bolt and fill her up till it pours out of the fill hole. I used a little more than a quart.

I am going to change my differential fluid and have a couple of questions. Are there two fill hole for the 2.5TL because the owners manual has the fill hole as the hole in picture #3 above that has been opened and there is another fill hole near the drive axle in picture #2 above. Also, the owners manual states to use sae90 for weather above 0 degree or 80w90 for weather under 0 degree F. Which do you guys prefer is the best to use in warm weather? Is 75w90 ok to use?

Thank you for the info. I got a chance to change my differential oil today while I was changing my engine oil. Car runs much smoother than before.

I went ahead and got a few of each size(20mm and 18mm) from the honda dealer this morning to change my ATF and Differential. Transmission seems smoother now.

My 96 acura tl 2.5 goes in reverse but not in drive! I just bought car for 300 and I'm wondering if I need a transmission? I empty the differential fluid and tranny fluid but I don't want to put new transmission filter and honda atf. Along with dif fluids. If i am going to need a new tranny. I took of the solenoids but they are 500 to replace. So I'm going to clean old ones and out back. What to do. Should I fill up with fluids and hope she goes or drop the tranny and pay 1000 to rebuilt???? Car has 195000 miles and runs good

That is seprate from ur tranny soo that will not have any effect on weather ur car drives or not... But if u already drained it make sure u fill it back up with diff fluid
