That's all Toyota's are good for....beaters!
#1570
Lol yeah, these cars are great beaters. I used to buy them for export regularly. Its automatic but thats what I'm looking for in a beater car at the moment...If the TL sells I might keep the BMW. If the BMW sells I might keep the TL.
I do have someone who seems pretty interested in the TL coming to look at it this weekend though. I can't decide if I'm happy or dreading it...

I'll let you know...
you're dreading it.
I told you, a decision based on practicality is bound to lead to regret! Unless it's an absolute MUST and your kid isn't getting fed, of course. Then, it's gotta go.
let dude show up for the TL...
when he gets there, hand him the keys to the Corolla and put the aspec wheels on it and "acura" badge and play stupid!

Hahaha!
I know right!
I go back and forth about it everyday; when I drive it I don't want to sell it but when I look at the numbers it would make my life a lot easier! I hate paying interest so paying off my loans would be nice. Then in the future I'll probably look into getting back into an Acura...Plus with my commute and with traffic it will be nice to beat the hell out of that corolla for a while.
I've always babied my TL, parked far from stores, kept a close eye on it all the time etc, kept it washed and waxed, etc. You know, all the things us enthusiasts do...
It'll be nice to have a car I don't care about. I'm going to aim for potholes, park next to grocery carts, and put the absolute cheapest gas money can buy in that thing.
Edit: but I'll always regret selling it. I still sometimes miss my DGP.

Dude, when he gets there, you're going to have anxiety pains......

I had a buyer come take a look at the car last night and again this morning before work. He really liked the car and I am confident he will take good care of it. They made an offer and I told them I'd think about it. Honestly it could go either way. Their offer is below the limit I set in my mind for selling the car but not by a whole lot. I could sell it but at the same time, I told myself I'd keep it if I didn't get anything higher than my limit.
Not sure what I'll do. But the car could be gone tomorrow.

Q, it all depends how much is the offer is off and how motivated you are to sell and the buyer is to buy....
126K miles on 2008 TL-S 6MT comes in at ~13K in very good condition....since you have some mods on the car, you might get 50% of what those mods are worth....
so if bottom limit you set in your head is 13.5K (just saying) and the guy offers you 13, you can find some wiggle room....but if he offers ya 10K, then there is no thinking about it...
the only thing is, if you have all the stock parts (jpipe/headlights/tails/etc) it might be worth your while to part out and sell the car as stock....that will definitely yield you more $$$ overall....but if you do not have stock parts then you will be paying for exchange and this can get taxing and tough depending on availability as well keeping your car undriveable for days

Thanks guys for the input!
We aren't that far off at all. Its not a great deal of money but considering the fact that I put in about $3k in maintenance in just the last 8 months, I need as much of that back as possible! Plus I am leaving the car as-is for the buyer so he will be getting EVERYTHING. I even just got a new key for it and brand new floor mats.
The only things I put back to stock were the headlights and jpipe. So it'll come with the 18x8.5's, Tein SA suspension, sway bar, Navtool+Myron Davis dvd player, ipod input, about a billion LEDs, Custom tails, aspec kit, Brakemotive brake kit, front & rear wheel spacers, window visors, Short throw shifter, Maven knob, carbon fiber accents inside and out! SO many things.
I talked to him yesterday and we discussed the option of removing a few parts to make up for the difference between his offer and my price. So what I'm thinking is maybe I'll take some easy things off like the spacers, window visors, or anything else that I won't need a stock part in exchange for and list them in the BM.

That is a fantastic idea dude....
the sad reality about maintenance is that you will never get even a penny put towards maintenance (unless you put some brand new tires on the car)....maintenance is the reason you get your asking price under a "Very Good"/"Excellent" condition....
thats a reason why we see a lot of cars being sold between 85-100K miles, since the 1-2K spent on the 105K service is something they wont get back....

So I sold the car last night
We ended up coming to an agreement where I kept only my subwoofer and the window vent visors. I wanted to create a deal where all parties were happy and I would be able to recoup a little bit of the money that was negotiated out of the sale price. So I removed the sub from the trunk and the window visors and left the car in tact--Those were the only items he was able to let go of and I agreed they were the only items that wouldn't take away too much from the way the car looks.
Dropped it off and signed over the title and removed my tags. I handed over keys and it was a done deal. It still hasn't hit me yet, but I drove the BMW to work today and kind of felt odd. I have to find some time to clean up the my new beater and get it registered.

Congrats.......I think.
#1589
Well I'd rather not say exactly but it was around $16k. I think it was fair for both parties given all the work thats gone into it (maintenance and of course mods). All I removed from the car when he saw it was my subwoofer (cheapo sony xplod) and the window visors.
In the last few months though I sold the headlights, bulbs, LED DRL, jpipe, and a couple other small things like all weather mats and stuff like that.

yeah, I was expecting a ball park as well...sorry wasnt clear....
a local has been eyeing some high mileage Type S 6MT and we does not want to pay more than 12-13 for them....
just in the past year I feel the value of these cars have dropped a lot...but still cant complain if you get 15-16K for a 6-7 year old car

Its been a while guys
I'm back. Corolla was damaged in an accident, I looked around for a little while and ended up getting an 05 TSX, so I'm back in the family
I've ordered a few parts already for it. Just got the car registered today. its a Carbon Gray Pearl 2005 TSX with Ebony interior and Navigation. 6MT Transmission of course!
I'll have pics soon. I haven't done anything but polish the headlights so far. It feels like a pretty clean car but I still have to go over it a little more carefully in the coming days.
Glad to be back!
