255/40/17 Nitto Motivos

Small amount of sidewall flex and decrease in mpg but due to a stickier tire.
Previous tires were Goodyear Eagle Gt at stock size; 235/45/17

Offset is +40 on those wheels, and he's running a 5mm spacer in the rear.

Dude, that's the exact set-up I want, but I'm not dropped, so I'm worried about the front poking. Need your advice on that!

Figured I'd add some bad cell pics of a 245/40 RE-11 on an 18x9.5 +38 Enkei GTC-01. Not much stretch to this combo, clears easily with a light roll in the rear as well.

A comparison of the 265/35 Eagle F1 Unmounted next to a mounted 235/40 RE760 Bridgestone on a 9.5" wheel. Meat.

I got my Hankook RS-3s in a week ago in the 255/40 size on stock rims. Very sexy tires. Not as aggressive looking as the NT05s but good looking still.

I still need to take pictures and post them. Traction is absolutely amazing, they make the NT05 seem like an all season and I loved the Nittos, its hard to believe I would ever say that about them. There is no doubt these have the highest traction available in a streetable tire as the auto-x guys and others have been saying.

They're so soft, they pick up small rocks and will make your head spin on a hard stop.

Enough about the performance, I'll post pictures of both the NT05s and the RS-3s. The RS-3s look good but I would never expect the kind of performance they're capable of by their looks while with the NT05 you expect it to be a performer by looking at it.

Like this thread very much! Too bad I didn't see this before I bought 225/40s for a set of XXR 527s last summer. Doesn't take much for them to get curbed or chipped...when the wife drives it ANYWHERE!

I was given a set of used Dunlop tires off a Beamer with low miles. They are 225/45/17 and 245/40/17. I'm putting them on the stock rims while getting the XXRs fixed.

I'm interested in what you guys think of the 225/45s front and 245/40s rear? Or visa versa?

Have ran 255's on the OEM Base 08 TL rims but they don't look as beefy since the car is big.. But these 225's on 8" rims look and perform great..

Track Toy..

Lots of nice set ups here. Hopefully in the future I can throw on a 18x9.5 +38 wheel with 265/40/18s on my TL. We will see how it goes. I need a better paying job. Haha. But for now my old car with an older setup.

Nice. I love my 2006 6 speed. I miss my RSX a lot, but I don't mind the change. I just wish I had money to mod. It's sad not being able to do anything to this car. Well at least for now. Lots of plans... Little money. Haha.

The TL has to feel like an entirely different animal compared to the RSX. What made you move to the TL? Mods for this car don't come cheap. You did good with getting the 6 speed

For performance I have an Injen CAI, RV6 v3 J-pipe and RV6 True Dual exhaust and FlashPro. On the dyno it put down, 250 WHP and 223 WTQ. Exterior I have front and side A-Spec and the rear is a stock Type-S bumper to fit the quad tips. Thinking about ISC coils and HFPC's for the next mods.

Nice setup! Right now all I have is a AEM CAI. I wish I could work on it more, but priorities take over. And to answer your question, yes it is a totally different animal. This can't handle as well as the RSX. Power wise, I feel like this is comparable. I was surprised how well the 6 speed TL pulls. And how smooth shifting it is. Much better shifter feel than the RSX. The reason I sold the RSX and got the TL, well I have a baby. I wanted something much safer. And this fit the bill quite nicely. And hopefully later down the road I can get coilovers, wheels, and exhaust. Then maybe call it a day. Maybe. Hahaha.
