the retrofit god has spoken.
how much for the MDX headlights??!!!

might as well custom the 3G TL to fit those instead right? LOL

mmm...let's see, i have patience, i have CAD skill, i have access to CNC machines, maybe this is a task for me! took me more than 3 years to complete my current headlights!

anyhow, i'm waiting to see OP's progress. i'm sure it'll be a good one!

^^ You are the perfect candidate for this retro PM me for details.

BTW these are complete headlights with all the internal goodies such as adjustment knobs, AFS actuators, all the bezels etc etc. Only blemish is a small crack on the underside of the driver side headlight which can be easily mended if needed.

I'm with you...I think it will fit nice and also because the 3G has less going on in the front this will definitely stand out more than on the TLX in my opinion

AWESOME! Are you going to need to customize the harnesses to the lighting element at all to make it work or are all of the connectors the same?

^ Ill need to customize it. Basically rewire my old headlight harness into a connector and then into another connector. So I can revert to old headlights whenever

This is definitely not a beginner retro. Im about 5 hours in and have just finished cutting and jb welding on the 2 adjustment knobs onto the driver side. Im waiting for it to dry and then I can modify in the other adjustment screw onto the back side of the housing. Let me say that this is a super tight and close retro!

Ive got it where there is a cm gap around most of the heat sink and more in other areas. A few parts of the headlight need to be rebuilt, but the way I cut it should make it so easy to finish up. The 2 adjustment knobs are what holds the housing in place with one pivot point I put in aswell. Epic wont describe how this will look when im done. To play it safe ill say 2 weeks until its on the car. I still need to find a set of plastic lenses to close them up when im done.

Anyone??

So much time is going into these. I do understand it is my first time doing the jewel eyes and as I did more it would get easier. But for the cost involved! I don't see many people dropping that much coin. Roughly 600 to get the jewel eyes to my door. Plus a spare set of tl headlights. 300 - 500. Then the labour ontop of it all! Easily 1500

I am just amazed how (at least from the front side horizontally) the LED array seem to be just the perfect squeeze for the TL headlight housing.

Being that the height of the TL headlight is less than the MDX means they will stand out even more prominently. Good luck wojo, looking good!

I think if we set a small group buy, it will be worth your while

someone with A-Spec lip and a suspension drop, this will be a great cosmetic upgrade that will resemble close to the TLX

I see this becoming an easy mod to do in the future when it becomes mainstream.
Kinda how there's civics with aftermarket projectors in them now, compared to 10 years ago.

UPDATE! Got home from work and was able to mount the slides in which the jewel eyes slide on when you use the adjustment knobs. I need to now light them up on the car at night to see if the adjustment knobs can put the light into proper specs while projected on the wall. I might need to cut and adjust to make it so the jewels are level in the unit and with the car. As I get more and more into this process I see how tedious it is becoming and how perfect I am making it.

Im sure you could half ass it but I want this done properly and to last a long time! I now have the tl bezel cut out and on the jewel eyes. Next I also need to trim the jewel eye bezel to fit snugly behind the tl bezel

I did ask him about his. But he didn't want to reveal anything and that's fine. I respect that. So ive tackled this on my own and retrofit it my own custom way.

Im also not going to show how I mounted it and such in detail, but I will show a few more pics and then final pics when its done. I should have pics up tonight of the jewel eyes in the 3g tl headlights on the front of my car at night and light up in all modes. DRL, lows, highs.

STAY tuned!
