Not a review, but a video with an exterior walk-around and interior illumination at night.

Is that light under the side mirrors the "puddle light" in the Advance package? If so, I wished that they had done it like the 3 series, where they had beautiful lighting coming out of the inside of the door handles etc. That was quite stunning and also very practical as well.

Yes, the Advance has those puddle lights. A blue LED light on the inner side of the door handle that would light with the puddle lights would look great

I find this video to be the best so far in showing the car exterior. Good lengthy camera work at eye level really does a good job -- that's the next best thing to seeing the car in person. Numerous close-ups showing the various key elements of the design were nice too.

The netcarshow review says:

The TLX Owner's Manual and Navigation System Owner's Manual are provided on a CD, reducing the size of printed hard copies and freeing up additional space in the glove compartment. A printed Owner's Guide is provided, however, and the full printed Owner's and Navigation System manuals are available separately from Acura dealers.

Really? We're paying $4,000 for navi and we have to BUY a manual?

Or at least an app. Or let the car read the CD ROM and display onscreen. Or a flash drive with the manual that can be read by the USB port. ANYTHING, but CD-ROM!? On the plus side, the 'quick start guide' has been expanded to ~100 pages and is far more comprehensive than before.

My wife's new Mini hardtop (if it ever gets out of EPA purgatory) has the owners manual available on the touch screen... and an app... and a download. On rare occasion I've actually used the paper manual in the car but I can't say it has been essential. I think it should have been available on the hard drive on the TLX.

^^ Good video review- thank you. This confirms what I thought all along...if I was to replace my TL with a TLX, I'd get a base 2.4 model. It comes with pretty much everything other than the leather, navi, and the tech nannies which I wouldn't want anyway. Navi now can be via smartphone with audio prompts via BT. The screen is a plus, but in truth, I now rarely use the navi I have in my car. I think the 2.4 will sell very well, plus, there will be a lot of them in the used market in a few years, so for those who want to wait a few years for a decently priced used car, this is it. I think if I was ordering one new, I'd get the LED fog lights, the chrome strip down the sides, the rear trunk spoiler, and the mudguards, and that's it. I'm not a big fan of the aero add ons and think it looks great out of the box.

I think that while most reviews say that the 2.4L engine is the way to go, it really depends on the individual's needs. I suspect that most journalists want the sportiest performance version. To me, refinement and AWD are more important for my driving needs and climate. So the V6 SH-AWD will be more important than the sportiness of the 2.4L.

Once I have driven both the 2.4L and V6, there was little doubt that the V6 SH-AWD would be better for my own needs. If I did not need SH-AWD, then the choices would be more difficult.

i bought the blue on black (canada only color combo) in tech i4. I get it this week so I'll be doing a small review on it.

Simply for the fact 2.4 tech reviews are sparse, and canadian TLX has many more features (heated windshield, remote start, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, washer fluid sensor and double capacity)

I checked out a base 2.4 and V6 Technology package cars yesterday at my local Acura dealer (Hoehn). I have to say the base version with the fake leather is pretty nice. I would still go with the Tech package, but I can definitely understand people who buy the base too. The different between base and technology is not nearly as obvious as it was with my 3G TL. A casual shopper won't be able to tell the difference until they look at the window sticker.

My likes:
+a real sun glass compartment capable of holding my sun glasses (Nike Skylon or Smiths)
+the front compartment for cell phone or electronics is pretty nice
+ the steering wheel controls are well laid out
+ exterior and interior styling is nice
+ technology stereo is impressive
+ trunk has a nice storage compartment below the deck that is deep/large enough to hold some tools and stuff like that.
+ nice to see the car come with more LED lights- noticed the license plate lights are now LED which is a nice touch.

My dislikes:
- interior front door handles are not as nice as mine- they are nicely padded though
- the sunroof button arrangement seems complex
- the door map pockets as well as behind the seat pockets seem like a downgrade over the 3G TL equivalents- they seem smaller and don't retract.
- not sure I like the idea of integrating the seat heater switches in the lower screen .vs. buttons on the console.
- I'm not sure I like the electronic parking brake. I have been known to use the parking brake as a quick way to slow the car down without showing brake lights when speeding. That won't be possible- so I would need to use the paddle downshift instead. Guess I would get use to that method eventually.

I did not drive the cars, but have no doubts I would like how the 2.4 drives based on the redline review.

They are doing themselves and their custoemr base a great disservice by not ordering the 4 cyl.

Power folding mirrors, as well.

Not manually folding mirrors with power adjustment.

Acura TLX: #4 in Upscale Midsize cars. Replaces the TL perfectly. Only behind BMW 3, 4, and Lexus IS.
