Yes, I have a AEM CAI but have yet to install it. It also doesnt have any exhaust installed either, or cooling fans wired up, or cluster installed, but you know what it does have? A j35a8 thats running!!!

Great swap and even better that it's running!

The thought of a TL dash swap would be awesome. 6G Accord running 3G TL luxuries?

yes plz.

No problems, just havent got that far yet. The AV6's (and a few other models) are strange in a sense that they have separate modules called radiator cooling fan modules (made by Motorola) that actually monitor the ECT and control cooling fans.

About 5 years ago my wife asked me to remove an alarm system in her car that was installed prior to us getting together and I found a module behind the glove box that said "Motorola". I thought it was the alarm and removed to gain extra brownie points...mission accomplished. Later that day, Im 5 miles away from my shop replacing a radiator in McDonalds parking lot with my wife PISSED!

The Sport mode in the transmission is very aggressive when activated and although it doesnt shift much faster in manual mode, it was nice to have full gear control from the paddles on the wheel. Transmission shifted very smooth. Engine ran very strong and I couldn't have asked for more. The Accord is such a light car as it is and with 300hp under the hood...it feels like so much more over the 200hp j30a1 it once had.

Sadly, the drive ended badly when I decided (or attempted) to do an E-brake burnout. I wasnt aware that the ecm does a fuel cut when this is attempted and as soon as I laid on the throttle.....BAM!......I snapped the puny little j32 axle. I have yet to inspect any of the damage but Ive already ordered the 07 TL-S CV axle and should arrive at the shop early in the morning.

As for the remainder of the car, not much left to do. The biggest issue yet is the shifter cable. I ordered the correct one from Acura today and had it overnighted so hopefully that will be here and installed by tomorrow. Funny thing happened whenever it came time to finding the correct size on the serpentine belt. I have a rack up at the shop that I keep old/new/lost/etc... belts on and out of the 25 or so belts, the first one I picked and tried fit. HOLY CRAP! REALLY?

Oh yeah, and one last thing....

oh and if the hood is barely fitting, you might want to adjust that, rubbing with the hood might mess up your sweet intake

Although I have the TL-S shifter already, I'm going to try any see if I can keep the Accords original shifter in. This of course all depends on the linkage and its attachment design. This is because I already have the paddle shifters on the wheel and don't see any other reason to retro the TL-S shifter in unless I decide to do the entire dash swap as mentioned earlier. Doing just the shifter alone would require me to do the center console unless I can modify the existing console.

As for the hood, you are 100% right about the rubbing part of it. I did notice whenever I swapped the j30's intake with the j32's it began rubbing the hood insulation and messed up my polish job on the top plate. I may run some spacers for now on the hinges until I can get the clearenced hood ordered.

***UPDATE***

The shifter cable arrived about 30 min ago, that's what you call "over nighted"! :-)

I now realize that the TL-S cable is nearly 1.5ft longer than the original one from the Accord. This is because the Accords attaches underneath on the bottom of the trans whereas the TL-S goes up and over to the front of the trans to reach the shifter mechanism.

Pulled the axle out this morning, new TL-S axle should be here ANY minute now. No damage from what I seen so far. Another road test should hopefully prove that accurate.

I know its hard to tell in the pictures BUT it actually has a new paint job. The night before it was drove to the shop for the swap, God sent some prevailing winds that got up to 70mph and carried Oklahoma red dirt along with it, haha. As soon as I get things worked out to where its dependable on the road (1-3 days at most), i'll be sure and snap a better photo.

***UPDATE***

Got the new axle installed. This one was damn near 1/8" larger in shaft diameter so Im certain we wont have any more problems. Car is currently undergoing the shifter cable replacement right now...well, as soon as I finish these Taco Bell tacos anyways. I snapped a few pictures of where the cable locks into place on the shifter assembly and they are pretty different in terms of the locking design. Looks like Im going to have to swap the TL-S shifter over. Darn.

Thanks everybody for all the positive comments. Its good to see people who can appreciate, and most of all, understand what all is involved in doing a swap such as this one.

The car has been an absolute BLAST to drive and I love how much power I have at my foot without having to press any buttons. Some of you may have seen me write about the newly acquired MDX my wife and I purchased (traded in our 07 MDX) and how much power it has. Yeah its a heavy vehicle but strangely the j37 doesnt seem to be affected much by this. Those who have or do own one know what Im saying here. Well, tonight on the way home from work, we followed each other home. Ive been telling her about the Accord will much faster than 'her' MDX is and she laughed....she actually laughed ALOT! ......I noticed her coming up fast on my left side through my rear view and as she was just about on my side, I threw the pedal down hard. Because we were still both going 25-30mph, my car kicked down to 1st and broke the tires loose so I eased off about 30% (enough to regain my footing) and as soon as I came back on it...the car was like a slingshot and took her down FAST. It was great...and quite a pleasurable moment. (Babe if you read this later and get upset, remember that you doubted me and this too made me feel inadequate just as you do now) ;-)

***UPDATE***

Not much remains left to do on doing the final touches to the car. I really have been so busy at the shop I couldnt dedicate hardly any time at all to doing what needs to be done. I have decided that all the harness/power distribution accessories that were added to the passenger side front will be installed into my glove compartment so that its fully hidden yet accessible if needed. Ive prepared the harness for this next step and shortened any harnesses/wires that were too long and am really focusing on a professional look.

The engine compartment has been aleviated of anything that won't be used anymore and just to add to its overall cleanliness. Bought some 1' spacers tonight for the hood to give me just enough clearance until I decide what the final solution for that will be. Ordered an actual adapter fitting for the ECT sensor that the TL-S have mounted at the radiator so I can splice into my lower radiator hose to mount the sensor. Right now im using an old coolant tube from the old blown j32 (nitrous)...gone but not forgotten! Fans have been wired up and Im still using the Accords radiator fan control module except instead of the two fan switches controlling the modulem the TL-S ecm does. Doing this saved me from ALOT more wiring.

As of now, Im trying to get the AC working but I still want the ecm to control idle speed/load adjust. The only way this will happen is by using the factory TL-S hvac control head (CAN unit) that can communicate with the ecm and turn on both the AC compressor/condenser fan relays while the ecm makes the said adjustments.

I'll keep you guys posted on this...

They make real hood spacers ? I was only aware of washers from lowes/home depot

Car seems fast , but not much faster than the j32a2 w/ headers ? I'd like to throw up a video of mine to compare .

Actually, Home Depot is where I bought the spacers. In the hardware section hanging up in the individually bagged area you will find chrome spacers ranging from 1/4" to 1" in length with a 5/16" diameter center hole. In addition to the 1" spacers, I also bought 4 m6 bolts (1.00 X 40mm) along with some lock washers. Came out perfect.

As for the second comment, I also drive a 03 TL-S (hence my avatar pic) with a j32a2 that had a lot more than just headers. This Accord would make my TL-S a weak competitor. It may only have only 30+ HP but the short ratio 5-speed auto really makes this thing pull hard and keeps it in the powerband during WOT. There's really no weak area with this combo that I've seen. Did I mention how much I love the 'blip' feature in this thing too?

I simply used the Accords throttle cable that attaches to the j30's throttle body and used this at the j35a8's APP sensor. The APP sensor is merely a electro-mechanical device that converts the mechanical motion of your foot depressing the accelerator pedal into an electrical signal that's sent back to the DBW module which then sends a variable signal to the electronic throttle body.

Yep, the 2g TL/CL-S 5 spd autos aren't anywhere as short. Especially between 1st to 3rd gear.

I like the shaved trunk. Always like the look of this on the accord.

Wait, that's not shaved. Are the trunk pieces just painted over ?

The car looks good. Would be sick if you painted the Accord in the TL-S KBP color. Now that would make it unique!

Wait, that's not shaved. Are the trunk pieces just painted over ?
No, it's not shaved. It's blacked out with the darkest vinyl I could find. Came out pretty damn nice. The coupe has always been the best looking out of the Accords and I've always especially liked this year model. Believe it or not, she's over 300k miles...

Not sure yet man. I've actually been reconsidering the idea of taking on two big projects and with child number five coming in about two months, it's looking like I may have to call off thenTL-S. All of the parts, if I decide to, will be sold to fund something of monumental status on the Accord so you guys keep your eyes peeled.

Unique is a title she already carries. But I catch your drift. ;-)

Thanks man. I love this car. It's the best combo I could've picked and I'm glad to have stuck it out with the swap. Now that HonData has its new thing with the j35a8's, I foresee many swaps being done with the TL-S motors. Grab em while they're cheap!
