BC Suspension- RDX Coilovers
I have been posting on the Eibach Spring thread and wanted to make a dedicated thread about the coilovers that BC Racing Suspension is going to be developing for our RDX. Very exciting indeed.
My team mate has their suspension on his Hyundai Genesis race car and I have to tell you these guys know their stuff. Their quality is top notch.
I will be posting updates and pictures if allowed by BC Suspension. I have shipped out my suspension and it should arrive at BC by next Monday.
I hope they can pull this off.

" Most of our kits are $1000. Only exceptional cases on fab work will it be more but I don't see that being an issue here. We don't charge more for branded vehicles, where as other manufacturers will cut cost on say a honda and charge a larger fee for the Acura."
Hope this helps.

Bc is fairly new to the market.Doesn't mean that they don't know what the people want, or what's going on. I wish you good fortune in this..
This may help them carve a niche among our community, I've heard good and bad from diff boards about BC. It's a race now to develop them coilovers..lol. And either way the rdx community wins. Any word on if this is a group buy or will it be offered by means direct from supplier?
BTW, There is no possible way to have a true rear coil over without modifications to the "pillow ball" area, welded reinforcement is what I had in mind. But a separate adjustable shock and adjustable coil for the multilink suspension will pro'lly be made.

I was asked to ship them my upper and lower spring perches for the rear springs. The rear arm has about a 3 inch hole in the middle of the spring. I guess they will need to figure something out so we can have a height adjustable rear spring.
It should have arrived to them on Tuesday. I'll email them and make sure they got it.
Cheers.

I just got an email from BC. My original suspension is on its way back to me. They are done with measurments and studying it.
They mentioned about 30 days out for a beta version of the product.
They also asked about the front wheel drive version. They want to be sure it is the same as the AWD. Does anyone know if that is the case?
They mentioned "Of course we would have to get with a fwd to assure fitment before labeling this will work on both. So there is the chance of a discounted kit to a fwd specially if in the Orlando, fl area."
If anyone is interested let me know and I'll put you in touch with them.
Cheers.

Are you getting the coil-overs for free?

Mr. Marco,
They are going to send me a "beta set" for me to test.
I am planning on testing on two different race tracks, Infinion and Thunder Hill. I will also take three road trips, Napa Valley (switch back roads), HWY 1 (down the California coast, lots of sweepers, tights turns and uneven surfaces), and go up to the Sierras (Ski trip to Lake Tahoe).
I will be providing them with feedback. I don't know if they will send me a second set for final testing, but will share as we progress forward.

Just got an email from BC. They are looking at making camber adjustable plates for the front shocks as part of these coil overs.
That would be way cool, it will allow us to correct the front camber as you lower the car or give it more camber for more aggressive driving/stance.

Happy Friday gang.
I just heard the Beta version is ready for me to test. They will be shipping them out.
I will post pic when I get them. I will try to set up for mild lowering and then very aggresvie lowering. I understand there are suspension pins that correct chamber if you lower the car aggresively. Can someone confirm this fact? Do I need them for both front and rear?

Just got done fully inspecting these coilovers...I'm impressed.
These are the "BR Type". This is what BC says about their BR Type suspension:
"Our BR model is perfect for street driving and occasional road course duty. With easily accessible adjustment knobs for fine tuning your compression/rebound and separately adjustable ride height, having a performance coilover system couldn’t be any easier. You choose how low or high you want your vehicle, no preset ride height here, and our patented concave lower locking ring keeps it locked in. All of our systems come with pillowball mounts to provide the most feedback possible from your suspension and to sharpen your steering response."
Quality is 9 out of 10 when compared to Motons and JRZs. The paint on the front struts seems to be poweder coated and on the rear shocks and the threaded body of the front and rear shocks they are anodized. The front shocks are adjustable from "Soft to firm". I don't know if it is compression or rebound (I will ask them).
The top mounting point in the rear is as stock. In the bottom it is a heim joint. Nice.
The top mountiong point in the front has a hard plastic insert, it will have less flex than stock and should let you "feel" the car better. The bottom is exactly as stock.
Connecting rods to the front sway bar is also provided, but they are not adjustable. I will ask them to make one side adjustable (it will relieve any preload on the swaybar).
They provide the adjustment tools, and an extra set of the front adjustment knobs.
They came "pre-adjusted" for height from BC. I'll have to see how far it will drop the car front and rear. I will provide measurements. There seems to be a ton of room available on the front to lower the car, at least on the shock.
The rear springs have the height adjustment on top! Cool design.
The front springs are pretty standard afair, easy to change to a different spring rate (or even height), but it will be a pain to take the entire assymbly apart everytime. Mind you I don't think anyone will be tracking their RDX. So what will you guys want as a goal? Sprited driving? If you are lowering you car I'm going to assume you are looking for better handling and not better comfort. Let me know your thoughts.
The rear springs are specifically designed for this application. It will be interesting to see how they will perform.
Let me know if you need any specific shots before I install them on the car.
Now you have a suspension choice for your RDX, no more having to wonder what it would have been like if you had bought Eibach springs....
THANK YOU BC for taking the time to build us these coil-overs. I will do my best to test them properly and provide feedback for BC to finalize this product, so we can all enjoy our RDX's that much more.
Cheers.
