What we do know so far about the 04TL...colors exterior and interior, it will come in 6 different trims from the factory, it will have a 6 spd manual option, revised VTM-4 option, DVD Audio 5.1, Bluetooth tech, XM radio, Navi option.

The rest of the info are just guesses. Which I usually do not like to take part in.

Just like Jan 03...soon there will be the million dollar question...what is the MSRP?

This may have been mentioned before but doesn't it seem odd that the HPT (VTM-4) would only be offered with the 6spd?

A couple of possible explainations.

1) Acura figures anyone in an automatic wouldn't want it. (I don't believe that)

2) HPT really doesn't mean the 4wd option and that the option will be available on all of the 6 previous trim levels.

3) 6spd doesn't mean manual. A while back there was a rumor (totally unfounded probably) about a 6 spead auto. What if the 6spd mentioned in the trim level list was _either_ manual or auto.

I'm hoping for #3 (unlikley) but would settle for #2. Any other ideas?

Just presumed HPT was Navi only. I have to agree with Myrddin. I think there should be a HPT Auto as well. Afterall most sales like any car will be Auto. So why not AWD Auto

By the way - here are some more tidbits from an unnamed, but near as reliable (pre print of owner's manual):

- 8 inch screen from TSX for Navi
- 8 inch screen for the NON-NAVI !!
- wheels are 17x7.5 235/45R17 V rated tires (he said the wheels fit current TL as well )
- 5 spoke wheels similar to the pre-production model
- Gauges similar to TSX, but with 3 circle design like RL (it will have the LED based gauges)
- NO predetermined service intervals
- Multi purpose display that will display service info when it has determined that it is required
- heated outside mirrors and power heated seats
- blinkers in the mirrors like the TSX
- Moon roof is one touch open and close with CONTROLS ON THE ROOF !!
- 3-spoke steering wheel similar to TSX
- 6-speed and 5 auto confirmed

Take it for what it is worth ... on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being rumor and 10 being truth, if info from Justin is a 10 ... this stuff is a 9

6 spd is manual...why...because I saw the model number (part of the vin) for the 04TL.

What is the latest on the interior specs? Are they expected to be the same eventhough the exterior is a few inches shorter? More trunk space?

Thanks...

HPT?

OK, I'm new here and Justin's word seems to be golden and he suggests that HPT is in fact an AWD system, but:

The new JDM Inspire just debuted with lots of new tech stuff such as adaptive cruise control, colision brake mitigation, etc.

Sorry for the delay in reply Larchmont, but I know I have seen others that have deposits on the 04 TL, two area dealers already have 3-4 each for the 04 TL.

Am I missing something?

Wow. Doesn't it feel like today is the day the NDA on the TL expired?

The Autoweek spy pics are MUCH more appealing than the ones released earlier. I think this particular car is a little less dirty. Almighty Jupiter, this car is going to look great once we get the metal trim around the windows, all the tape off the sides and back, and see what's behind that front mask (anyone think the rear lights are also disguised somewhat?)...

Oh, and provench -- any idea about what the mysterious feature "never before seen in any car" was that was mentioned on the other site??

I guess the big question for me now is -- do I rent-a-wreck for the two months I'll be without a car waiting for the TL's release or do I just get a $1500 used car and trade it in October?

Blinkers in the mirror, not likely, the spy photos do not show that but what they do show is a buldge under the black tape behind the front wheel where the side turn signal will be (also at the back this buldge reappears) like in the concept car.

See attached.

I'm gonna take a stab at it: It's just the absence of any routine service schedule.
(I know, that would be a bit anticlimactic.)

Sorry, like I said I am new with this, could not get the photo to attach, see the earlier spy shots (non-autoweek).

Regarding the tail lights, yes, they are definitely made smaller, if you look closely, you can see the shadows of the black tape, and the seams between the tail lights and trunk/bumper.

Nope - BMW has no published routine service schedule either, just lights to tell you when to bring it in , so that is definitely not it. = I know you were kidding?

Also, you can ignore the white strip's next to the tail lights, those are not real either.

Hmmmm. An 8-inch screen for the non-navi version... That's kind of big for a simple in-vehicle information system. I wonder if Acura will add a rear-view camera to the TL (doubt it). Would that be something one could see on the rear spy pic? Oh, and speaking of that -- if you look at the spy pic of the rear of the car, there's a small bulge on the roof. What is that thing?

Hey Larchmont, no problem.

BTW - just go down to the dealer a block or so from you, they attended a Acura meeting and saw the car, just ask him for the details and report back to us.

He was even quoted in a press release.

Boo on the three spoke steering wheel! I was really hoping Acura would stay with the four spoke! Will the steering wheel controls be illuminated?

The 17x7.5" wheels seem kind of small in relation to the current market.

The Maxima, G35, S60R, 3 series and others are offering optional 18" wheels.

I guess there will not be ventilated seats...

That is for the standard XM radio (as reported in the press releases at XM Radio's web site last April). Most if not all sat radio cars have some sort of external ant.

Here is the quote:

Washington D.C., April 17, 2003 -- The all-new model year 2004 Acura TL will include XM Satellite Radio (NASDAQ: XMSR) as standard equipment, Acura announced yesterday at the New York International Auto Show.......

I think someone mentioned this before, but I'm going to take a guess and say that HPT = High Performance Touring. What it all entails, I don't know. But I'm guessing that's what it stands for.

I have seen many forums on the TL but could not remember if this was the group that had a link to the Honda press release on the TL concept car, it has some basic info in for the production car, specifically the tecnology, use this link - http://world.honda.com/news/2003/4030416_2.html

Also, I know what the ground breaking anouncement is, it is this: "An Inspire ALMAS (30TL and 30TE) equipped with a passenger-side swivel seat will debut on July 25, 2003 at Honda automobile dealers throughout Japan.

The Inspire ALMAS features a passenger seat that can be rotated with a simple operation to enable a caregiver to help a passenger in and out of the seat. The seat is the same high- comfort model featured on a standard Inspire, with the addition of a front/rear slide function. Installation performed by Honda Tokuso Co., Ltd." as anounced at Honda - http://world.honda.com/news/2003/4030618_2.html

A picture of the side swivel seat is shown at the bottom - makes it easy for us overwieght americans to get in and out of the car!

I think we need a more stable moderator, someone who does'nt change cars like they change underwear. Remember provenh's G35 He traded that thing in faster than he can say "AWD TL"
Pick me to moderate the TL Forum! I think this would be a nice home to have some discussions about the TL. Obviously, this board is dedicated to the TSX, but why not have a TL mini-site on here?

My guy over there doesn't know anything himself yet -- and I think he's serious, because he thought the new TL was going to be basically the same size as the current one.

He'll need to talk to the guy who was at the meeting, then we'll see how much he can tell me. I'm not holding my breath.

I may be on that boat too...depending on the price. But I like the size of the TSX more. What I really really want is an HPT version of the TSX. Maybe 240hp and AWD. Ohhhh yummy... assuming they can give it another 25 or so lbs of TQ. I'd like that over a 280+ hp AWD TL.

"Seems"... that's a huge understatement. If you want info on the "Current TL", that's the place to be. If you want to hear how much the '04 TL will be disliked, that's the number one place on the Web!

very very tru

some of the posters there are so close-minded since they own the current tl that they HATE the next-gen Tl no matter how great it may ever proclaimed to be. IMO, thats very sad

I dunno guys but i already have a vision of a value sport bodykit, volk wheels, and custom turbo or comptech s/c for the 6speed Tl in my mind...oH NO!!!....the madness has begun.........

I don't know where Justin is getting this AWD rumor but it won't happen. I don't want to go into details on a public forum but it ain't gonna happen and this has been confirmed. Plain and simple.
