Emanage users/ amatuer tuners chime in

just bought an emanage after searching the forum and seeing that the NEO gets over-ridden by our ECU.

So for those of you with emanage, what has your experience been like?

i know some features dont work such as timing right? what else doesnt work?

dd u buy the CD for the unit?

did u tinker with it yourself or get it tuned by someone?

i believe it reads timing. put it on and limp it to a shop or put it on in front of the shop so u dont have to drive it a distance. let a pro do his magic.

x4 on letting a pro tune with it.

But in my experience, alot of tuners dont like tuning with the E-manage.

For our cars? AEM EMS. It may not be plug and play, but it works.

Most of the tuners Ive talked to all say the same thing; the e-manage is garbage.

Theres no denying the fact that most boosted CLs are using the e-manage though, with success. Its just not ideal, at least from the side of the tuner world that I come from.

He wasnt running the EMS. JPRoy was running the FIC I believe, but theres another guy on the other site running it on an NA motor with no issues.

The EMS is a full standalone. It will work. Its expensive, and requires you to wire it up. Theres no OEM ECU to override it.

Good reason

The EMS is pricey, but definately worth it.

If I want to tune my set up i got now. what should I USE.

Since I know NOTHING about this piggy back systems you are talking about.

AEM EMS is that a full standalone? I could run that right?

Last I checked JP is still using the AEM FIC.

The EMS is overkill for you. If anything, you just need a bump in fuel, so the E-manage would work.

Brought my 3.5L to a shop with emanage blue and they could not get anything out of it. They said the ECU kept overriding it and caused my car to run worse. I eventually took it off. If anyone else has any success stories with any other piggy back unit, let me know b/c I am dying for a custom tune.

Thats strange. I was running e-manage on my boosted cl-s with no problems. You sure your tuner knew what he was doing? Alot of the members here used it with no issues.

mega squirt?

I would stick with e-manage since you only need A/F. It may not be the best thing, but it seems like the most inexpensive solution. Our Ecus are a pain and there is always a probability of getting over ridden with a piggyback.

no one has reported the stock ECU overriding and emanage. only problems ive seen are with the neo.

if ur stock ecu over rides the eman i would suggest looking over the wiring and maybe using an 02 clamp

Couldn't be the wiring, I ordered the boomslang. Well, they tried and tried and only squeazed about 5 HP out of it. But the real issue was that I'd have to pull the battery every 50 miles or so b/c the CEL would turn on and my car would begin running like crap. Anyways, it's too late now, i already sold the emanage lol.

What does the AFR look like when the ECU is overriding the Emanage? I've started on the airflow chart and no matter what values I put, my wideband fluctuates from 11 to 21.

Are you getting on and off the gas when the afr changes like that?

Test your o2 sensor.

Pull it out, spray a rag with carb cleaner, and cover the end with the wet rag while the sensor is cold. Keep an eye on the gauge, as the sensor heats up the gauge should slowly go 100% rich. If it fluctuates, then your sensor is bad.

sorry to bump this but got a quick question. Someone local is selling an Emanage. They had it on a 6th gen accord v6. This will work right? The unit is the same and it's just the harness that changes from car to car right?

Yes, as long as its a Emanage Blue; the unit itself is universal just the harness changes like you said. So you'll just need to borrow/buy the support tool, get a Boomslang PnP harness, and install a wide-band air fuel gauge.
