Throwing in parts maybe, Good mechanic response
Reply to the 2 folks.
1. He DID just throw a part in when I had the growling instead of changing an O ring for $1. But he insists the pump was toast. His dude came from years at BMW. I'm taking it to Honda for the Diag. instead of simply throwing in the Acura pump. Then I'll let my guy do it. My guy can get the genuine rmd for $458. I'll do that so it's his part and he's responsible.
2. To the guy looking for a good mechanic, they need to take a lot of stuff apart to get to that timing belt. My guy charges $400 total for timing belts (the whole kit, pulleys, and labor). I'm sure 90% come out fine. I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't praise the owner to death. My timing belt came out perfect, but... in all the work that got done, someone, somehow screwed up my steering hoses, messed something up and I'm in the spot of spending $458 for an Acura steering pump. Coincidence that the steering issue started the day I picked it up? Maybe.
