Looking to Buy a Low Mileage 2008 TL Type S
I want to buy a 2008 since I don't like the model change from 2009-present. I have found a few low mileage S types on Carmax but the prices are high. I'm trying to justify paying $25k for a 6 year old car, granted its low mileage 50k. I know it will last forever but is $25k really a fair price?

A lot of people do not like 2009-present making 2008 more desirable choice. As supply of:
1. 2008 Type S (highly desirable)
2. Low mileage (also highly desirable)
keeps shrinking prices remain steady.
Options to find lower priced 3G depends on YOUR preference.
Expand your search to include 2007 Type S.
Take a look at non Type S (you might like it).
Include higher mileage in your search.
Look beyond Carmax

I have been searching for almost the same thing for over a month and they are normally right around $22k. Just do a simple search on auto trader. I would never pay $25K unless it was absolutely perfect.

When i was in the market to get a TL or TL-S "preferably" I went to see 4 different TL-S are which were pieces of garbage as the price tag was around $18-$22k. Im in Southern California. Not many TL-S appear here and mainly a good amount are all located in the eastcoast.
I settled for an 08 TL under $14k im happy with it.. I would had liked the TL-S but for the very small difference not worth the price tags.

That's what I am debating whether I should hold out for a S type or just "settle" for a TL since those are easier to find.

Geez I would have even considered selling my Type S for those mid twenty prices! Apparently they are holding their value still! Nice to see. If 50k mile cars are being listed at 25, then what would a 13k mile 6mt bring?!? Ugh, still don't think I could do it tho.
My recommendation is if you are set on an S, DO NOT settle. It's not just a small difference like goose said above, besides the sheet metal almost every part of the at is different...literally!
I settled years ago and regretted the decision within a week. Bit the bullet and traded it for an S....now happy :-)
Btw I'm not implying by any means that the base TL isn't good because it is, just saying that if you want S, get S otherwise you'll likely eventually regret it.

If yours has the light grey interior, I would be willing to take it off your hands for the $25k

Option 1: ebony/silver
Option 2: taupe
so if you're looking for a type S with a light gray interior...you wont find one
but btw, $25k for an 08 with 50k miles is just too much. Maybe 21-22k at most. There are plenty of TL-S in california

I'd say, if you are looking for a Type-S and you only want the Type-S, don't settle for a base model. I love my base but that's because I wasn't looking for a Type-S. If I had the money to spend and I could afford it, I'd get the Type-S for sure; especially a low mileage one.

I was about to sell mine this week - 2008 TL Type S, NBP, 6mt, Taupe interior with 54k miles. I was looking to list anywhere between $22k-$23k.
When I purchased mine it was over 900 miles away with 39k miles on it. Just stay patient and keep looking - I looked for a few months

I'm new to the forum, and I'm also looking for an S Type. They are as rare has hens teeth here in New Mexico. Dealers are charging big bucks, and they really aren't in very good condition.
I thought I had one bought, but I found out there was a huge possibility the one I was interested in towed a U Haul trailer from Philly to Santa Fe. (Who would do that with these cars?)
I went to a local Acura Dealer here, and he told me the S Type is a "rarebird", hence my screen name.
I keep waiting...

You guys should look through Craigslist at North Jersey, Central and south jersey. Type in Acura TL and see what comes up. There are a few nice ones on there. Mostly black, silver and white, but a few Kinetic blues and even one carbon bronze. If I didn't have a 2011 SH, I would have grabbed the carbon bronze.
On a side note there is a dealer near me named EMG that has a few of them and three in a color I have never seen, a dull but shiney gray.

Here's one in San Diego recently posted.

Looks like it was really taken care of. Might be able to drop the price a bit since the seller is moving.

I have not seen anyone mention it yet but any of you looking for a low mileage car are worried about rolled back odometer readings? For example one that is mentioned in post #26 has some excessive wear on top of the steering wheel but when you look at the carfax it has well documented manit. history.

Addressing the OP's original question...I've been looking at the same cars on Carmax. I just can't see myself paying 25K + for a car even with low the miles listed on a couple of them. And then of course then there are the transfer fees.
I want one of these bad, but I'm trying to be patient.

If you really want a Type S and dont mind paying what they are going for. By all means get a Type S.
I was kicking myself for a bit cause i really wanted the Type S but opted for the base TL. Im happy with it now due to some recent parts i have acquired.
Paying almost 23k or more for a car thats 6 years old is beyond me. I rather get an 2010 Audi A4 premium plus for that amount of cash.
But thats just me. I love my TL now i just hope nothing goes wrong with it. "transmission"
Good luck!

Cool, the more posts I read in this thread the happier I feel about my Type S purchase :-) I feel like I got a hell of a deal.
Based on searches and seeing cars out there I will say it is getting hard to find a mint Type S. I have seen some at dealerships that really show their age/mileage and just overall lack of being taken care of.

It seems like y'all are throwing out some huge numbers. I just bought my 07 TL-S KBP with 91k for only $12,500 and it was always serviced at Acura Dealership, but I did have an 8 hour drive to get it one way. I feel like I got a great deal on the car. I've had a base TL and now a Type-S and would say I could not see myself being able to settle on a base.

Whats cool is I have been searching for a G37XS sedan for my sister and its incredible that some 07/08 Type S's are holding the close to the same value as a 2012 G37XS sport and performance package with 15K miles. That says a LOT about the Type S!

The link I posted in post 26 was more for the color of the car and not the condition. That's the only Type S I have seen in that color and Acura doesn't list them in that color either. That dealer had three in that color.

Those prices are looking awfully good to a guy looking for one in New Mexico, USA
Lots of 2 owners +...with accidents. Even on Carmax.

In my years of searching it goes like this. From common to rarest:
black(NBP)-silver(ASM)-white(WDP)-bronze(CBP)-blue(KBP)-red(MRP). Those figures hold true for both auto and 6mt. WDP and CBP are a toss up.
