It's confusing because you say you want an RL in a TL thread, and then say, "subscribed".

I am pretty sure, they have only done "test-fitting"

no actual hook ups, connections, ECM, nothing....

CT-E takes a while to do things. I wouldnt hold your breathe on this... yes, it will happen, but surely not for another 6-12months .. maybe longer

which is completely understandable, however keeping a thread at the top with non-sense gives the impression that there is actually something going on with this thread.

if the forum members want to have a debate regarding who wants a supercharger more, then a thread should be made just for that reason. In the mean time, let the OP update his thread so we have actual information about the progress being made on the product. Not four pages of crap.

Getting your panties in a twist over a thread that's a few pages deep is asinine.

The turbo TL thread is almost 100 pages. Threads are created for open input and discussion and if the OP sees all this interest in the CTE kit it would probably behoove them to get something running and to market sooner than later. The OP can create another thread when the time comes.

+1 the above

why else would the OP make a thread with no marketable product? probably to gauge interest.

perhaps your right, let me untwist my panties and give it a little more thought.

it just gets rather annoying shuffling through four pages for progress to only find the OP only posted a few times with info. I couldnt imagine if it got to 100 pages. By the way how succesful was the turbo TL thread considering the 100 pages made for it?

yeah.. I definitely understand. There are 3 known turbo'd 3G's (2 Base 6MT's, 1 Type-S 6MT) with J&R's kit and I believe 3 more that are getting installed including Bert's 5AT (lots of people will be waiting for his results). There was another member (the OP of the turbo TL thread, banelba) who had his own turbo fab'd for his 5AT but his trans went out and he hasn't posted an update for a long time.

Right now J&R's (pass427) turbo'd TL is in the 479 / 470 at the wheels at 10 psi I believe. There are also a handful of 2G's and CL's that have their own respective kits. I'm sure as time progresses a 4G turbo kit from J&R could be in the works if more people invest in his kit.

Here's the price breakdown for the 3G kit:
  • Kit ..5799
  • Aem wideband .....300
  • install if done by shop ...700-1000..
  • Diy install......0
  • final tune ......400
  • Engine mounts ...310
  • battery relocation kit ....100
  • **Optional** watermeth kit ....450

and what's included in the kit:
  • Intercooler Piping
  • J&R custom Intercooler
  • Precision turbo
  • Oil Feed Oil Return
  • Downpipe
  • Aem Fic With Tune
  • All Gaskets & Bolts
  • Fuel Pump & Injectors
  • Tial Mvs Wastegate Hks Blow Off Valve
  • Jumper Harness
  • Battery Relocation Is required

Just so I understand correctly, 100 pages of posts yeilded 7 buyers. I havent reviewed the thread, but Im sure that there were a lot more that said they would be interested in the kit which kinda gave the seller/fabricator false hope for sales.

If you say that the amount of interest will gauge the production, bringing up the turbo thread of 100 pages is a bad example. But now you have me engaged in a conversation that I was trying to avoid in this thread lol.

oh well, if you cant beat them.......join them.

The interest in producing a turbo 3G TL was the intention of the thread and it blew up from there. Eventually Rodney and his buddies decided to make a solid kit and see how successful they would be at getting it running. Several members donated to kick it off.. and he was successful. Since then it's been an open discussion about how to improve the tune and reliability of a turbo'd TL. The kit didn't actually ship out until a few weeks ago since they have such a small operation. Plus not too many members have $6k up front with funds / mechanical ability to support a turbo TL.

You are correct though.. there were almost 2 dozen who said they were in until they got a reality check. The original list dropped to 3 or 4 members. Trust me.. the more members running the turbo successfully will mean more business for J&R. The discussions and following each members install is very interesting and engaging. We get newbs every once in a while who post some asinine comment to pollute the thread but for the most part it's definitely one of my favorite threads.

Not sure what the difference between the two are, but this one looks identical to the 3g supercharger. I coud see CT not wanting to put the time and effort into developing a new SC.

Err on the side of safety?

Also our hood is very flat with a shallow top to the engine bay, wouldn't be surprised if there was a clearance issue.

But I really couldn't tell you what model blower that is from looking at it, so I'm just making assumptions.

based on the picture in this description of the MP90(assuming I found the right company) what they have on the TL is not the MP90.

the MP62 & MP90 look almost identical. In fact, a member on here disassembled the CT S/C on his 2G... removed the MP62 core, and dropped in an MP90

The reason i say this, is power... the MP62 was barely powerful enough for the 3.2L TL.... Then, one member but in on a 3.5L type-s... results were even less.... The displacement is too large, for a small blower core like an MP62

Here is some food for thought... the Chevrolet Cobalt SS.... Is a 2.0L I4 ... it comes with a factory installed MP62 s/c

this supercharger is for the 3.7L AWD only

There was a supercharger for the old 3.2L TL, which somebody mounted on their 3.5L Type-S (UA7 2007-2008) ... so you might be able to custom mount it.. but it'll cost money

for starters though, you can get a

Takeda Intake
UR Pulley
P2R TB Spacer
P2R IM Gasket
ATLP Quad Catback exhaust
XLR8 Hi Flow Cat

already available for purchase! you'll be sure to get about 20+whp out of all those mods put together

I asked them on FB... this is the response I got back

We're working on the tuning for the SC kit right now actually.
The exhaust is already available through dealers and on our website.
We're also working on an intake which should be available late February.

Thanks for the update - CT is not known for their speed in rushing products to market - but they are known for quality. I'll be looking forward to their intake. And hopefully sometime next year we see the supercharger make it out.

Frankly, it's amazing that even 7 people would already give even tentative commitment to something that safely works only conceptually at this point. I think it goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that once we have a test mule and some results, sales leads will grow exponentially

Anyone know the OEM injector rating for the 3.7.

My concern would be under boost, and (hopefully CT-E get's a better tune) the injectors won't be above 80% duty cycle.

Another thing to consider - the SH-AWD system. What is the max tq rating for the clutches?

I wasnt referring to this thread, but rather the thread regarding 3G TL turbo kits where there is 100 pages of non sense talking and only 7 members willing to purchase.
The supercharger is far beyond the concept stage for the 4G TL SHAWD as CT-E have already installed it and ran it on there car. Check them on facebook where they have a video of the TL running with the SC installed.
