New ECU preview

I've gotten some information on the upcoming ECU product.

It is based on the MegaSquirt3 ECU modified to interface with the 3G TL ECU.

MS3 info is here http://www.ms3efi.com/product.html

Here are some things you can control (Items are hyperlinked)

This also means that the tuning can be performed using MS compatible software. The current software being used is TunerStudio. It can be downloaded for free and also has a register option. More information is available here:

http://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/

One HUGE feature is VE Analyze Live. Read about it here:

http://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/#veAnalyze

Some questions and answers so far:

Q. Will the stock ECU be retained ?
A. Yes, this insures that all factory features are not lost

Q. If the factory ECU is still in place, are you simply intercepting the signals?
A. No, the FACTORY ECU has no control over engine parameters.

Q. Will this be a Plug and Play install or do I need to custom wire?
A. This solution will be Plug and Play with a pre-wired harness included.

Q. Are Base Maps Included?
A. Base maps will be available based on the application.

Q. What is VE Analyzer ?
A. A tuning tool that tunes while you drive! See http://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/#veAnalyze for more information.

Q. Is drive by wire retained?
A. Yes along with all other luxury features handled by the stock ECU.

More info, Email - tl20046speed@yahoo.com

Sounds awesome and very helpful, but i dont know if this has to due with the ecu or not. I would like to see on the list:

Fuel cut off max speed removed (so its not governed), and seat belt chim disabled. does the ecu control those 2 points?

This sounds great! I would love to get my hands on one of these... any guess on price with harness yet?

Lazer: You can make the seatbelt chime go away by putting your seatbelt on! Easy fix! :-)

This really is not to address those issues.

It is for the people who want full control over the engine tuning (turbo, supercharged, NOS, etc).

I forgot that there is a short video.

Please ignore the fact that the tuner left the key in the ignition. Better videos to come:

That looks bad ass! When this is released i need it!

Side Note: Is that your car KN_TL? Looks like the A-pillar gauges dont work and i like the placement of the wideband and true boost... just not that its drilled through the fold down cover!

No, this is Rodney's ride. I am trying to find out what pod that is and where he got it. Mine is drilled and mounted to the cover.

Mad props, man!

Who's gonna be the N/A guinea pig to try this? I want to see what kind of gains can be made on a car with full bolt ons and P&P intake and runners by adding more fuel and timing. I think there's some power to be made in the 5k + rpm range.

why no 2g support , the AEM EMS is a joke personally, when trying to keep it interfacing with the the other modules in the car

You're going to be hard pressed to find someone willing to pay over $1000 for limited gains.

For those asking about price... the product has not been released yet so it may be subject to change. All I can say is to expect something in the neighborhood of an AEM EMS setup.

Wow. Simply amazing. This will allow the TL to be a true player in the tuner community.

With this, a high duration camshaft now becomes more feasible. With a long duration camshaft (at least 252 degrees at 0.050), the peak HP (more specifically, the shift point) can easily be 1000 RPM higher than oem. So if you are still shifting at the 7200 RPM oem limit, you are unable to reap the benefit from the big camshaft.

With this unit allowing the RPM limit to be raised to 8000+ (and stiffer valve springs), people can now pursue some old-fashion hotrodding (cams, ported intake). The only major piece missing is being able to change our axle ratio. J&R, any plans to offer axle gears?

Cool guy in the vid. Is that Rodney in the video?

I will have one. I will also provide back to back dyno results using a factory ecu, then using a tuned JandR stand alone.

i think something along the lines of the old hondata setups, where you add an additional circuit board, but basically lets you have full control though

Would this be able to display the data it shows on the laptop on a Car PC Screen or OEM Nav screen? Can't wait to see what this opens up for N/A applications.

True, I was speaking more for most of the crowd here who limit themselves to a couple grand at most for performance mods.

The software is just like any other "stand alone tuner software" It looks to be a windows based program. So if you had a car pc, or a pc/laptop in the car and doms nav to dvd, you should be able to display it on the the in car screen.

Im thinking in the end of things the stand alone is going to yeild more hp/tq than the standard $1200-$1500 full exhaust systems. With both systems, i could see the 3.2 6mts, making as much or more hp than the stock type s 6mts.

In a TL it will be run as a duel ecu setup. You need the factory ecu if you want to keep your cluster working correctly, and it also controls the DBW. The DBW system is part of the traction control system.

Although the factory ecu is still pressent, it has no control over the engine itself as far as timing and fuel go.

I found that TunerStudio is also Linux/MacOS compatible. I am setting up a Mac Mini to go into my TL and bought Win7 and VMWARE Fusion just in case it was Windows only. I am going to try both to see if there is a difference.

This looks awesome. I'm assuming it will work for the Accord motor as well?

Finally the R&D was put to good use! AWESOME job J&R and all who put time/$$/effort into this! This is exactly what the J series needs!!!

Inaccurate is 100% right. This will allow us to fine tune a cam which really opens up NA potential. It also is a great option for boosted guys that want the most out of their setup!

Any estimate on when the guinea pigs will be tested?

oh hell with the timing advancing avaliable i'll try it on my j36 stroker motor, plus with my kms valvetrain i can rev up to 8k rpm with this!!! lol

Damn Jandr i totally wanna see some more vids when this is fully tuned and some runs!!! im looking for something just like this being able to use ac, drive by wire and yet have complete control of the engine.

Props Jandr cause this looks really promising, and you may be seeing me as a customer really soon since i need something like this to tune my twin turbo stroker motor.

This would be all you would need ,this will be a full programmable unit ..
I've been off the forum for a little but I'm pretty positive everyone understand the reason for that all the spare time is been spent working with new ecu getting familiarize so when it's released we will be able to offer help or technical support if needed ,and on top of that we had a few set back which we've overcome ....
One thing I can promise is a programmable unit that will satisfy all our needs n/a or forced induction ..

Anothe candidate will be jandr new shop car a 95 Integra with j32a3 motor and 6speed trans ...currently in progress thanks to tldream for all his donation towards this project which is been a great help we should be able to get good feed back on the ecu and daily functions on all different setups..
