When to change the freon?

When to change the freon?
I like to keep my car cool during the summer, so I guess I use AC a lot (but usually kept at low). I have a 2001 3.2 CL. When would be a good time to change the freon? Or is it supposed to last a while? How much does it cost to get it changed? Thanks guys...

Don't worry about it. Freon doesn't need to be recycled unless the cars really old, or the compressor burned out, or some other major problem.
