the pulleys are too close to each other...rather than guess whether it was idler or tensioner pulley, I just changed out the whole tensioner. More money but it's a part that needs changing at some point anyway, so no regrets. You'll do new tensioner and belt and you should be good.
14MM to push back tensioner, remove belt, then tensioner is held with 2 bolts, IIRC. It's been a while.

Hello everyone,
So after going through the car wash today, my car started squeaking (which is nothing abnormal, it always does that if the belt gets a little wet or when it's real cold in the morning on cold start-ups), however, the squeakiness didn't go away. An hour passed and I drove to autozone to pick up some belt dressing. Upon opening the hood, this was worse that a typical dry squeaky belt. It almost sounds like sandpaper getting rubbed across cement. It worries me that either a pulley or tensioner is bad, especially if it's the alternator pulley because I will have to replace the whole thing.
Thanks Azine.

Good for checking alternators but works on all pulleys.

It's not the belt on our cars...the auto tensioner keep it from ever being the problem. If tension is it, it's the tensioner. If pulley is it...it's the tensioner.
If I ever need a stockade though, I'll call you, ya bastid. If I DID have an automotive stethoscope I can tell you what I'd want to hear on YOU.

I remember paying like $160 for my tensioner and belt. Something like that. It's one of those dynamite to kill an ant fixes but I didn't want to waste time fixing the wrong pulley or just the belt. Figured it was a wear and tear item...no regrets.
