Did mine yesterday and also did drain and fill. I am doing a 3x3 but slowly introducing the new fluid so I will be done in about two weeks. I hope replacing the sensors do extend the life of the tranny. A difference that I felt was the 2nd gear seems to hold out a little longer. Has anyone else noticed this?

Need urgent help!!!!
Ok I have read these threads on replacing the 3-4 gear pressure switches. I have an 07 TL-S I bought 2 of the 600's and 1 of the 610. I hope I got the right parts. On my car I can only find 1 switch. It is just below throttle body and there is a #4 stamped near it. So I assume this the number 4 switch. So where are the other 2? I have the car jacked up on the drivers sied and the whell off. Help please the car is in disaray and it is killing me....

In this thread, post #16 has a diagram that may help you. Looks like you are looking for one (or both) of the parts numbered 13. Good luck.

If you aren't experiencing rough upshifts or downshifts I wouldn't worry about it. If you are experiencing rough shifts or 3rd / 4th shudder, you can request the switches to be replaced in a professional manner. If they won't replace them.. it'll cost you $80 & about 15-20 mins of your time at most.[/QUOTE]
It takes 15-20 mins just to get the car set up to do this. ie: jack stands wheel off etc.... Then you need to figure out where the switches are located!!!!! God forbid you fucken pull off a line that drains the god mother fucken damn trans fluid all over the mother fucken brick paver driveway!!! Mother fucken whore cunt bitch!!!!!

Great thread. I'm planning on doing my 3x3 and switches this weekend (if the parts gets here by then).
Thanks for the post and everyone's opinion. This will definitely save me some money as long as I don't mess anything else up. lol.
Is there a DIY for changing the transmission oil filter on a 2004 TL? I read somewhere that it is just underneath the air box. I'm not really a very handy person to try this stuff so I just wanted to make sure first before I start taking things appart.
Thanks in advance.

Will this fix slippage or am I too late?
Think that I blew my tranny. Only had first and second coming home from work the other day. Could the problem be as simple as the 3rd and 4th switch issues mentioned in this thread? I have the feeling that mine is cooked. Does anyone have any insight into this? Big dilemma. Still have over 4 years of payments and it's sitting in my driveway. This sucks!

i purchased the atf filter, oring, washers, 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches but i forgot to add the 2 gaskets for the pressure switches. are they really necessary? i tried contacting acuraoemparts, where i bought it from, and they it's been one business day already and they haven't responded. i don't think they're going to add a few measly gaskets into my order..lol

WOW. amazing! Thanks op! I just did the 3rd and 4th gear sensor and just finished the test drive. Pretty impressive, i must say. Props to the OP and whoever figured this out. Car feels a lot faster coming off the line. Before my car didn't have much pull coming from a stop into a go situation. Next up will be my 3rd 1x3 atf flush as well as transmission filter change.
Btw, I wasn't able to connect the connector latch from the shroud snuggly into the retaining clip that holds the connector together. Was anyone able to put the connector into the retaining clip snuggly. It's the clip that's way high up. Kinda confusing, but to clarify, it's the plug that doesn't connect to the 3rd or 4th gear sensor but is along the 3rd gear sensor's shroud that is up high..if that makes sense. I just sortof nudged it into a spot so that it holds and doesn't fall down.

My "D" light had been blinking for a while and I finally took it to a mechanic that connected the diagnostic machine to it and he said the 3rd gear pressure switch was bad. I ordered the part and replaced it.
First time driving it was an amazing difference. When that switch was bad, I was getting around 19-21 mpg and with the new one, I'm back up to 30-32 It also shifts much much smoother.

First of all, excelent write up and background info...
I know this is for a 3G, but I noticed that the parts are descrided as 2G parts...that being said..would the process be similar for my 2G... I have an 03 TLS with 58k and after reading this I would like to change mine if anything just for piece of mind since 2G trannys seem to be junk... I looked through the 2G DIY's and there is no mention of changing these sensors

Guys, need your help. Just got done with a 3x3 over the last three days but can't tell how much ATF fluid I have in there according to the dipstick. After wiping it clean, putting it back in, and checking the level, there is fluid halfway up the dipstick. I measured the first day and put in about as much ATF that came out. Yesterday did the same thing and was again confused at the readings I was getting. Then today I only put in 1.5 quarts back and the same thing is happening (ATF halfway up the dipstick). Please don't think I'm a retard and I just got done changing out my 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches. My car is ready to go but am afraid to drive it not knowing the exact level of ATF. Can anyone shed some light on this subject or post some pics? I appreciate all your help and can't wait to be done with this. BTW, Redline D4 is awesome.

Same here. I don't know why one side of the dipstick's indicator level has ATF halfway up on the stick and on the other side of the stick, it's between the two notches, which is fine. I assume it's fine but i dunno
Btw, how is the feel of D4 compared the Z1? I just bought some Redline racing myself.

You should be okay if you put in as much as came out. If you overfill, there is a blowoff tube on the top of the trans that will release anything overpressured---it will make a mess all over the top of the trans case, but it will also relieve the pressure. Underfill is a different question, but if you see fluid on the dipstick underfill should not be too big of a problem for you.
Remember that Honda wants you to check it while the engine is idling OR just after shutdown. Try both ways to see if one is more accurate. Also, make sure the dipstick if firmly reinserted into the tube---there is a TSB that mentions fluid can come out of the tube and damage other parts if its not seated properly.
The D4 makes for much improved shifts---there is no lag at all yet there is no harshness either. I'm very impressed.

Great DIY, thanks man. Couple of questions, please...
1. For those who have done this job, on a DIY scale 1-10, "1" being an oil change...How would you rate it?
2. For that small amount of fluid that spilled (looked like maybe 0.25 L?), do you just top off your ATF after the job is done?

1. 1 out of 10
2. No.. don't worry about it.

Wow. Just did this job a few days ago. It was actually easier than an oil change, and at only $77 shipped, a vital preventative maintenance job. This, assuming IHC's discovery is correct; however, I wouldn't be going around pulling sensors out of my tranny if I didn't trust you people!
THANK YOU AZ!

that's where I and other members buy parts from, and you've got exploded part diagrams to look at.

I don't know about the 2003 model since this is the 2004-2008 forum. The tranny has a fill of I think 7 qts. When you have the car on a level surface/lift it will drain 3 quarts, that's it. 3x3 refers to 3 drains, 3 refills, with a shifting process in between to mix up the fluids. After doing this you've effectively changed all the fluid (~97%).
