Viper 791 alarm. CAN YOU SELF INSTALL?
i am thinking to get Viper 971 alarm system. One of my older friend said he installed twice before but not viper 791. and does know how to install engine starter and stuff.
Do you think he could really install this viper 971 alarm system?
DID ANYONE HERE ON DIS FORUM INSTALL THIS KIND OF ALARM SYSTEM BY YOURSELF OR BY FRIEND? NOT A SHOP.

unless you really feel like getting aquainted with a huge pile of wires that are poorly coded, small, and sometimes brittle... i'd let someone else do it.. but it is definatley not impossible the remote start can be a bitch

I install them, but I used to work at a shop. Personally they are a pain and even the pros have problems sometimes. It's not so much the alarm itself, but how the car reacts to new unit.

You need to have done them professionally in the past to do it. I was a MECP certified installer back a few years ago, so I can do it no problem. But as cars get more complex, the wiring get's just as bad. Many times, it's not just fidning the right wire, but understanding resistors and diodes to isolate circuits, etc.
Took me a half day to do the wife's two-way remote start DEI setup in her Expy. Had to use resistors to get the keyless entry module to coperate. Trust me, it's worth the money to pay to have it done if you don't know how.

Yep, proffessional all the way. I have a 791vx in my car and a buddy who own his own shop did it for me. We worked on it for 5 hrs and he's FAST. Deffinatly worth the extra cash.
