Installing LED strip lights under headlights???
#42
Hi, Does anybody know what the best quality LED to install under bumper in grill? I saw a Momo one which I think got better quality than the rest. I saw some reviews that LED fails on some other product. I'm not sure about review for the 9 LED Audi Style. Momo 6 led I think is the best quality when it comes to big LED but is shaped as straight instead of curve looking at the top view. Does anybody know a curve shape that is good in quality? I did saw a MOMO 28 LED Daytime Running Lights but it might not look as good as the 6 LED.

2. Yes, a relay is included in the kit.
3. Yes, you can wire them to come on with the ignition.
4. Yes, they dim with the headlights.
I made a thread on them: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/hella-universal-led-daytime-running-lights-my-06-tl-847286/

I'm getting the Audi Style 9 LED Daytime Running Light Universal Fitment
what relay or switch should I get for my LED DRL? I want them to turned on when ignition is on. I also want them to dim when headlight / tail light is on.
just like yours. thanks

Here's a somewhat crude diagram I made of how to wire the lights and relay:
As for the dimming with headlights, it is a built in feature on my Hella DRLs. I know most of the cheaper Chinese brands like those "Audi style" lights don't have the built in feature though, so I don't know how you would get yours to dim.

1) So the white w/ red stripe is the same as the blue wire you mention above? white w/ red stripe comes from the module correct?
2) Your diagram above, the wire going to the ignition sense (wiper) green is for it to turned the LED when ignition switch is on. Where is the wire that connects to the tail light for dimming the LED's?
Do you think this will work? LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) Automatic Control On/Off Switch Relay Harness

I found this also from Momo.

it says: LED lamp kit control unit automatically regulates brightness: 100% brightness at ignition, 50% brightness when used in conjunction with head lights.

Basically I just tapped into the green wire to power my relay. I then ran wires from the battery, though the relay to the lights. So basically when the key is on, the green wire is powered. That power goes to the relay, closes the switch which completes the circuit between the battery and the lights.
As for dimming, like I said, my Hella lights had the feature built in. They had a third wire coming from the lights (the other two being power and ground) for the dimming sense. I tapped this wire into the positive wire for the front parking light bulb (orange wire IIRC).
Those "Audi style" lights don't have built in dimming and I can't really comment on those "DRL control modules" since I've never used them and I don't know how they work.
Thanks.

thanks for the response. How about the headlight wire. I want to tapped it into that wire so the led dims when headlight is on, not the tail light. also, how did you run your your wires from the drl to the ignition wire (wiper)? You drilled a hole under the car to the engine bay?
Did you add a fuse like 3amp inline with the + battery?

Also, there is no drilling, all the wiring is under hood. The green wiper wire is part of a harness that's next to the brake fluid reservoir. You have to remove one of the plastic engine bay covers up near the cowl to access it, but those pics I posted previously make it pretty easy to find. As for fuse, I didn't use one. I'll probably add one in the future though, since they're a good thing to have.
Also, this DIY is a good reference as it covers some of the wiring and wire locations you will need. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=drl
