What's the blank spot near VSA button for?
So as I'm cleaning my interior for the umpteenth time I noticed there is one of those blanks spots near the VSA/mirror button.
Blank buttons are usually found on lower models of cars and are usually provisions for lets say a sunroof option etc.
What option did Acura leave out on 07/08 TLS'?

IIRC, Honda Odyssey uses it for the sliding door(s). (Edit: Or maybe the tailgate door.)
TL/TL-S does not have sliding doors.
But maybe ....

It's been a while since I've been in an Odyssey, but I could've sworn the power sliding function was somewhere on the centre console
I think it's just a place for any aftermarket switch you want to put in.

If I remember right the sliding door buttons were above that area on my grandmas '05 Odyssey.
My guess would be so people could add aftermarket options. Either that or maybe it was for a button for something on the over seas models?

I think that the most likely reasons for the blank switch are:
a) the same switch panel might have been used in other markets and/or on different vehicles. For example, If I'm not mistaken, the Chinese market 3G TL had a rear fog lamp. It's possible that the switch went in this position.
b) It's possible that the switch position was reserved for a planned accessory. For example, the accessory footwell illumination kit for the 8th gen Civic used a switch of that size.

Yup. After the 3G TL sold so successfully in North America, Acura decided to export it to China.
The Chinese were not impressed. Acura sold like 3 cars. So the Chinese market TL is extremely rare and virtually unknown. It's hard to even find pictures of it.
It did have some nifty features the NA model didn't though. The headlights were the same as the USDM 04-06 (integrated fogs), but the housings were black and the turn signal diffusers were amber/clear like the USDM Type-S. The lower grilles had a silver trim piece and the license plate trim was wider to accomidate euro/asian style plates. The rear taillights were similar to the TL-S, except with amber turn signals, and the lower slot in the rear bumper that was filled with fake plastic mesh trim on the 07-08 NA models housed the rear fog and reverse lights.
