Resetting TPMS?...

....Damn cold weather had this light up in the dash even though all my tires read 26psi last night when the weather got down to 29 degrees. So how do I get this damn light to turn off? Do I just put some air in the tires, do I have to take it back to the dealership?

Help!

Yup in the cold weather the PSI in the tires do drop. Just add some air. I had to do it to mine a couple of weeks ago. You don't realize in the summer , but in the winter it shows itself.

tpms will show you just how bad folks are at monitoring their tire pressure...which is very important!

This is something I'm good about. I bought a small compressor just for this. It's a dramatic change from season to season.
For around $60 to $75 bucks you can set yourself with a good
quality tire gauge and a compressor and you're all set!

Did the same thing - filled them all up last week when I swapped into my winter tires. Paid like $20 for a cheap air compressor from autozone that plugs into my cig lighter.

filling the tires with nitrogen instead of normal air keeps the reading stable. nitrogen isn't affected by shifts in weather tempature. it also provides better gas mileage. best caps59 tl shawd

do acura dealers fill tires with nitrogen? Or should I be looking at a specialty shop? Also, if the Acura dealers do this, is there a charge to it?

^^ Don't waste your money- Air is already like 78% nitrogen. You would need your dealer to fill and empty your tires multiple times to fully remove all oxygen in the tires and have it replaced with 100% nitrogen only. I've seen places charge 100's for this, which is basically a giant ripoff. Just fill your tires up when it gets cold.

Cool... thanks for the heads up!

The reason I even thought of filling it with nitrogen was because the Lexus IS 250 (previous car) came filled with nitrogen when I bought it new. I never had to top up the tires (the dealership did the psi checks when in for service). The Lexus dealer's claim was that since nitrogen molecules were larger than oxygen, the permeability loss was significantly lower. But that car didn't have the psi readouts for each tire like the TL, I never knew how much the psi drop/increase was (if any).

I wouldn't mind filling it up with ~97% nitrogen if the local Acura dealer does this 4 free !

the cost per tire is $3 to fill with nitrogen in montreal. Costco outlets offer the service. caps59 TLSHAWD 2010
