Just had to have rotors replaced on my 2010 TSX, 16,000 miles. While at dealer, I found out about the recent class action suit. I had never been notified nor was I aware of any issues with brake pad defect until today. Problem is the dealer is saying that the rotors are not covered because the pads were in 'good' condition. My concern is if pads were known to be defective for the last 9 months or so, why weren't they changed when I was there for 2 service visits or even told about the problem and if pads were in 'good' condition, why did the rotors have to be replaced after only 16,000 miles. I have never heard of rotors having to be replaced at 16,000 miles if pads were in 'good' condition. Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciated.

I've asked my dealer about it the past two times i was in for oil changes, and they said that the brakes and rotors are good. Im going in again on Thursday and I think Im going to tell them to replace the brake pads per the settlement just to be safe. Im not sure I trust what they are telling me since my brakes squeek bad for the past three-four months.

They replaced them because they needed to brake ground on the owners pool in 3 weeks so he can enjoy it this summer at his 3rd home in Puerto Rico. You should really go back to the dealer and see if he needs a cabana that you could help out with.

Never do anything at the Stealership's that take real money just covered stuff.

2008 - 2009 Honda Accords,

2009 Acura TSXs,

my mom received a notice on her 08 Honda accord-they give a credit towards the replacement of the brake pads-in Canada they replace them.

Guys, I just kinda wanna point this out, even if it's obvious, because it happened to me.
If you happen to be a lazy ass like me and tend to put things off....
Do the rebate before the 90 days they give you is up. I swear to god.

Per the settlement paper....

"To be eligible for reimbursement, class members must replace their rear brake pads with the new material pads within three years of the date they
purchased or leased the vehicle or within ninety days of the date of final approval of the settlement, whichever is later."

So in other word's anyone with an 09 should have about a year left, and anyone with a 10' should have about 2 years left to take advantage of it.

I'm saying that I got mine replaced...paid upfront....and didn't send the papers for the rebate in within the 90 day period they gave me....LOL.

Well, I just got back from the dealership. Wow! My car just hit 16000 miles, and they immediately advised I needed a 15,000 maintenance, which will run me $320!!!! The service included oil change, filter, inspections of all fluids and brake/fuel lines, top off windshield washer fluid, and I believe that was it. I obviously declined and went with just my oil change and filter. My rear brakes were now at 30% remaining and they advised they needed replacement either now or within a month. So I decided to do the settlement as I had planned. The part costed $74, and labor was $175.99, for a total of $249.99. Long story short, I have to pay $100 out of my pocket now because of this issue! I know many others have done this already, how much did you have to pay?

Also, should I do oil changes every 3 months like the dealer advises, or just wait for the maintenance minder to get to 15%? I only drive about 3000 miles in 3 months. Thanks!

Screw Acura! I am so pissed off with them right now and their B.S. My 2010 TSX had the same problem with the brakes and I told them I AM NOT PAYING A DIME!! They complied after yelling my F*KIN head off and threatend to sue! I am now in the process of ordering my new Audi 2011 S4!! I have had it with Acura! Their customer service is shit and they dropped their whole perfomance line "S" models ? ? WTF! I still love my 2007 TLS and will not part with it! My 2010 TSX Tech will be traded on my new Audi S4!! C-YA Acura!!!!!!!!! Acura is nothing more than a nice Honda and that's how I feel like I have been treated lately. My dealership is soooo outdated!! Hell ... their Honda Dealership is nicer!!!!

I took my car in for my 12k mile oil change at 11,849 miles. My front pads had to be replaced and rotors resurfaced. I was told that if I had gone in after 12k miles that it would not have been covered under warranty. Just went in for my 16k mile oil change and was told that my rear pads needed to be replaced and rotors resurfaced, BUT I would be reimbursed up to $150 from the class action lawsuit if I submit a claim. So...front $269 out of my own pocket, submit a claim and wait 3 weeks for the $150 reimbursement. I THINK NOT!!! What kind of fools do these people think we are?!?! Needless to say, I am not paying a penny out of pocket.

I don't believe the front ones are in the class action lawsuit, so they should have been covered under warranty. As for the rear, they are covered as you said. I got my check within 5 days of sending it in, so it won't be 3 weeks. Call Acura relations and complain and they might send you the difference as they did with me too.

Just had the oil changed on my 06 tsx a few days ago. They did the inspection and according to their report the front brakes are 8mm and the rears 5mm. They are the originals-120,000+miles.

not sure I understand...are all 2010's in this class action, or only certain MY 2010's? I have received no notice on a class action suit...I bought my car in April, and it's got 13,000 miles on it.

Go to http://www.accordsettlement.com/VINNumber.htm. If you VIN matches one of the ones for the TSX, then it is included. Just make sure to do the steps as they say on the website since you didn't get a notice.

Took my 2010 TSX V6 in for "B1" service this week (14K miles) and mentioned I had a brake squeal/squeak that was getting progressively worse. Dealer confirmed the problem and replaced front pads, turned front rotors and covered under warranty. Turns out there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 09-054) that covers this problem with front brakes and the dealer is instructed to replace front brakes at no charge per this TSB. My dealer, Acura of Escondido CA. also replaced the rear pads and turned the rotors as a "one time goodwill" repair. Great service dept.

It saddens me to hear all this about the brakes. I just bought my 09 TSX about two weeks ago. I had already planned to upgrade to EBC pads and rotors anyway, but this puts a little more motivation into the decision. Thanks for all the good info guys!

okay this is kind of related but my front driver side brake is squeaking so do i need to get new ones? and how much is that gonna cost?

Depending on how much pad you got left. All disc brakes squeak a bit, if yours is worn to 20% or less, go ahead and replace them (always by the pair-Left and Right). If you let them go any further, there will be a risk of scrapping the rotors and they will also need to be replaced.

It's hard for me to tell which end the noise is coming from. When you drive at a steady speed & gently pull the parking brake, does the noise go away or change pitch slightly?

Fronts are covered under TSB, rear under the class action suit. My POS dealer charged me full price for the rears and told me to submit the rebate form. This after buying 6 cars from the dealer. There won't be a #7 from them for sure.
