It turns out they did not empower the first tier guys. My nav traffic disappeared. On calling them back they said, oh, you have the one year promotional package for $77. Nav Traffic is not allowed to be combined with that. I recounted conversations, was routed to another department and after much hassle, they were able to help me out, but in general, the software no longer allows $77+nav traffic. Nav traffic is only an option with full price, or so they said.

Not true, I just went through this last week and I got the $77 music and $3.99 per month for NAV promos.

Can't believe it's already been year!
Called XM to update my account with same rate as last year ($77+$3.99/mo traf).
First tier claimed that they couldn't do that and forwarded me to cancelation dept.
Next guy was very helpful and mentioned that they couldn't do the same package of multiple subscriptions on promotions. But offered me a diff promo package that includes XM Everything and NavTraffic for $125/yr. This is pretty much the same as $77+$3.99x12. I'm sure there's still that "royalty fee" as well. Does not include online.
Nonetheless, I'm good for another year.

I wouldn't renew XM unless it had Stern as part of the deal.

It looks like people are getting $77 for XM for the year, and some are getting the royalty fee waived, and online or 6 months of online included?

Is Stern available if you get the online included?
I imagine you'd have to have Best of Sirius online - and even then, last time I checked he wasn't available online, although I believe they'd mentioned on the Stern show that he is available online now.
Anyone know how that works?

They've also said on the Stern show that Sirius is available on smartphones now.

Can that be included in the renewal package?

Will be calling them in the morning, please advise.
Thanks.

$77 does not include stern, that would be extra and I don't think a lot of people went that way.

Just got the $77 deal from XM, only took a little bitching, stuck with Tier 1. Overall I am pretty happy with the process.

Didn't need any codes or promo information, simply let them price it out and THEN mention the $77 deal. It will take some "looking" on their part but it does exist. If they refuse to help hang up and call back or demand their supervisor.

Got a renewal notice in the mail for 2 radios, traffic, and online access at "regular" rates. Told them is was too much to pay for something I don't listen to very often and I'd like to cancel. Transferred me to "another department" who immediately offered $77 per radio per year with a year of traffic free. Still paying $8.97/quarter for online though. Took all of ten minutes.

Did you guys get this email today?

If You Subscribed to Sirius, XM, or Sirius XM Radio
You Could Get Benefits From a Class Action Settlement

Para una notificación en Español, llamar 1-800-760-6247 o visitar www.SatelliteRadioSuit.com
Read this message carefully. Records show you subscribed to Sirius XM Radio. We are sending this e-mail to tell you about the proposed Settlement of a class action that may affect your legal rights. Go to www.SatelliteRadioSuit.com for a detailed notice about the proposed Settlement. There is a class action lawsuit against Sirius XM concerning the July 28, 2008 merger that created Sirius XM. The lawsuit claims this merger violated federal antitrust laws and that Sirius XM raised its prices as a result of the merger. Sirius XM denies it did anything wrong.
Who's Included? You are included in the Class if you were a Sirius, XM, or Sirius XM subscriber anytime from July 29, 2008 to July 5, 2011 and you paid: (1) the U.S. Music Royalty Fee; or (2) a monthly multi-radio charge of $8.99; or (3) a $2.99 monthly Internet access charge if you previously did not pay to access Sirius XM's content over the Internet.
What Does the Settlement Provide? Under this proposed Settlement, Sirius XM has agreed it will not raise the price of its base subscription plan and certain other prices through the end of 2011. Additionally, subscribers with long term plans (excluding lifetime subscriptions) will be permitted to restart their plan at current rates before December 31, 2011. After approval of the Settlement, former subscribers will also be permitted to either (a) reconnect their satellite radio without paying a reactivation fee and receive one month of service at no cost; or (b) receive one month of Sirius XM Internet streaming service at no cost. The estimated value of the Settlement is $180 million. The Settlement does not provide for cash payments to the Class.
How to Get Benefits? Current subscribers scheduled to renew before December 31, 2011 do not need to do anything. Current subscribers who are scheduled to renew after December 31, 2011 and who want to restart their long term plan at current rates as well as former subscribers who want to reconnect service or receive streaming service should go to www.siriusxm.com/blessingclassaction.
What Are Your Options? If you do not want to be legally bound by the Settlement, you must exclude yourself from it. The deadline to exclude yourself is July 5, 2011. If you do not exclude yourself, you will release all claims against Sirius XM concerning any conduct arising out of, based on, or relating to the merger that created Sirius XM. If you stay in the Settlement Class, you may object to it by July 11, 2011. The detailed notice, available at the website or by calling the toll-free number, tells you how to exclude yourself or object. The Court will hold a hearing on August 8, 2011, to consider whether to approve the Settlement and a request by Class Counsel for attorneys' fees and costs up to $13 million, plus interest. You may appear at the hearing, but you don't have to. You may also hire your own attorney, at your own expense, to appear or speak for you at the hearing, but you don't have to.
Do not call or write to Judge Baer for information.
For more information about the Settlement: www.SatelliteRadioSuit.com 1-800-760-6247

I called to cancel today, got sent to the cancellation department and had a chat with a very nice gentleman.

He said that he would offer me the best deal first.

Total Invoice (including everything) for XM Premier would be $28.77 for five months. My new invoice is now online and shows:

Sirius/XM Service: $23.37
Radio Service Fees: $2.70
State/Local Taxes: $2.70

Expiration: 11/15/2011

I'm happy with this! He would not include internet at this price.

Good luck!

Nothing, its basically like slacker or pandora radio IMO.
They used to offer it for free but like everything they've done it all cost extra now.

I just got it for $2.50/month.

Note - my Home Denon AVR has XM radio as well... so since I was loyal customer, I got this deal... play the loyal customer card and you can turn on every additional radio for this price.

My trial 3 month subscription is ending on 7-13. I called and said my friend was only paying $77 and she immediately said she would honor that rate. $85.32 including tax and fees.

Still works. I called before my subscription came due to cancel and was immediately offered a deal. It took some more "stalling" and reconsideration, and the price went down even further -- so about $89 for a year with Nav traffic.

The key is to call before your subscription is due because they will send you a bill after you've rolled into the next year. And always wise to remember that they still have auto-renewal if you use a credit card or even a personal check.

Yikes. I just about gave up!

After 5 different operators, 2 could get the $77 for select, and $121/yr (Includes Royalty fee & Taxes) for Premier. But when they tried to add the NavTraffic, it changed back to full retail $$.
Last rep finally said just do the deal, then go online to add Traffic for $3.99/mo. We'll see if that works.

SiriusXM policy change?

My subscription expired and when I called to get things fixed I asked for the $77 per year price. They are now saying that NO ONE gets that rate more than once. I told them I wasn't going to pay that and they said sorry. They are charging me $30 per quarter for NavTraffic alone. I think I'm getting screwed. Perhaps I should cancel the whole thing and start over. Any suggestions?

I called two days ago on a regular line to move my service from car to car, asked to get the same rate on my new car and they refused, said either $150/year or $200.

Asked to be sent to the cancellation department who let me keep my current rate which is $85 give or take after tax and royalties and that includes the online listening as I had it free this whole time (about 3 years).

If they say no to renew at same price...ask for cancellation and if that don't work, call again!

received XM bill 0.01 higher than what my CC was charged, was pretty annoyed to make a call over 1c difference (or a $15-$20) late charge.

1c was credited to me immediately by someone for whom english was not a first language, since I was already wasting my time, I asked for the $10 credit given to those who store credit card on file.

I made sure that information did not stop them from sending me a notice 1 month prior to service expiration so I can call back and get it for the same price again.

these Outsourcing phone support places should really be pay user to call...otherwise it's just miserable.

I got the $77/year deal (plus the other fees) but my NavTraffic went away! When I called back they said that I would have to add NavTraffic to their standard package bringing the price up to their standard $180/year price. NavTraffic can be added to the standard package for only $4/month but not the $77/year TRIAL price. I am really getting frustrated with this company and getting tired of the runaround. I don't seem to be able to just add NavTraffic with the website without signing up for the package at full price. Anyone have any suggestions?

I just called and spoke to "Sean." I said I received a promotional rate last year and couldn't afford the new rate quoted in the renewal letter I received. He said they didn't want to lose me as a valued customer and right away gave me last year's price on the car radio service and also the internet radio service--total bill of $111 slightly prorated since I still had a week left on last year's subscription. The auto-renewal bill would've been over $190, so it was well worth the 10-minute phone call!

So, I let my account expire somehow and only noticed when NavTraffic stopped working. The radio still works, but with some channels missing. I called SiriusXM and tried to fix it, but was quoted $186.99 as the lowest possible price for what I got last year at 136.99. I was frustrated and the poor fella hardly spoke English, anyway.

No go.

Today, I called back and got a polite kid on the phone. End of story:

XM Select with XM NavTraffic (R) 1 Year $124.88

U.S. Music Royalty Fee
$8.32

Called the number on P.1, told them I am ready to cancel due to cost, they transferred me to cancellation, told them the same thing and they offered $77 per year plus tax totaling $84.XX. I said yes. So this deal still works. I've been able to renew at this rate since 2007. Actually did it for my wife's 2008 MDX at the same rate.

I am having a hard time getting the same deal from XM. I've spoken with 4 people at this point and the last person I spoke with sounded promising, and my phone died!!! Sonofa #$%#!! Calling again for the third time today and waiting forever in que.

One inconsistency I have noticed is one guy asked me if I had a code. The only way to get a promo is via a code from email, phone or mail. I told him last year the rep just extended the courtesy without a code, but he said he'll get fired - whatever. Another guy told me there are no promo's running and the cancellation department can't help me in that regard either. However, once I was transferred, the cancellation rep tried to hit me with a couple of different promos on the radio. I told him I want Traffic, but he said there's Traffic promo. So I told him to cancel my account, and that's when he said, hold for one moment and let me see if there is anything else I can offer you... WTF, why does this have to be so hard?

So, I would like to announce that Sirius XM is officially the WORST company in the WORLD! I've called them 6 times today; received 3 different reasons why they can't offer me any promo on my service; was transferred to the cancellation department 6 times and 5 of them disconnected my call before I could speak with anyone; the last rep must thought I sounded stupid because she offered me a 6 month term at 50% off - which is the same frigging thing; and finally, put me on hold for 20 minutes to cancel my service. Seriously, a 10 minute cancellation process took almost 2 hours! WTF!!

I called today to cancel because my renewal rate was going to be $159.39 for a year plus $15.62 for the royalty fee. My year was to be up on 2/1/12. Told them I was retiring and couldn't afford the high price, but I remembered being able to renew for $77/yr in the past and the rep agreed. With some talk about a "long time subscriber... etc." she ended up with an all-inclusive price of $72.71 though my renewal period is now annually from 12/20 rather than 2/1. I'm just happy to avoid the $175.01 they would have charged me.
