2001 Acura CL Front struts/mounts replacement estimate help!

Hi, very new to this forum so please forgive me for any mistakes.

I recently purchased a lovely 2001 CL with 184K. I believed something was wrong with the front suspension after I would hear a creaking/popping sound each time I would pass over a speed bump or rough pavement. I brought it into a local non-dealer repair shop highly rated on yelp and I'd like to know if their estimate is overestimated or any other advice on this issue. I'm not mechanically inclined so I'd have to get these repairs done at a shop.

The most immediate problem according to the shop was replacing the front struts/strut mounts which cost $280 parts and $197 labor. They said they would help with the noise and wobbling.

The other problem, which I haven't noticed before they told me is replacing the passenger engine mount and front engine mount which costs $161 parts and $197 labor. They said this would help the engine from moving inside the car during acceleration.

Anyway, I'm so glad to find this site and I'm anxious to hear replies!

welcome!

that seems like a fair price for shocks. I went on tirerack and their KYB brand (basic shock) came to about $240. And you said they'll be replacing the strut mounts aka top hats which is good.

If your engine mounts haven't been replaced then they're likely in need. The front and rear mount do most of the dampening during accelleration so i'd be more inclined to say replace those two, or all of them. If one is need of replacing, it's likely they all are.

Great. Thanks for the advice. I'm hard pressed for cash right now, do you think it's an emergency to get this repair?
