On 5/7, I drove my 45-day old TSX (4cyl w/ tech) from Atlanta to Athens and back (150 miles). Though it is a highway, there are plenty of stoplights.

4 times, my RPM suddenly increased while I was stopped and on the brake. Each time the RPM was significantly beyond the regular 600-800 RPM idle speed. No Check Engine light ever came on. (My memory of the first two incidents is not as clear as the last two.)

First incident: (?40 miles)--stopped regularly, then heard/felt slight revving--tachometer at 1500 RPM--got off brake to go, and car lurched forward--back on brake, then started up again normally.

Second incident: (?60 miles)--stopped, back to 1500 RPM again--put car into neutral, engine revved high, jammed back into drive, rev back to 1500--foot hadn't moved off brake (99% sure)--don't remember rest, but car did move on normally.

Third incident: (halfway back, ?110 miles)--repeat of 1500 RPM, came off brake slowly, engine back down to regular idle--no moving forward until I used gas pedal.

Fourth incident: (next light)--at stop, car was just above 2000 RPM--(right behind somebody)--only choice was to come off the brake slowly again--engine dropped back to idle.

Honestly sounds like you're double pedaling. Next time you experience this, visually inspect that you're not slightly on the accelerator pedal. It's very easy to do in the TSX.

try wearing skinnier shoes and see if the problem persists. like above poster said, it could very well be double pedaling. if you have a pair of pumas or something similar will work great for this experiment.

wondering if this got resolved OP? Honestly sounds like it's a shoe thing - if not, maybe your IAC needs to be looked at?

some times engine rpms rise from 600 to more than 1500 rpms/min for parts such as A/C, steering, lights and audio in idle mode; probaly when you steped on the brake padle the car needed more power and because of that the engine rpms fluctuating, you can feel this easily when you accelerate and a/c is on AUTO and turn it off when still acc. ul c a big diff.

excuse me for posting this, it may seem childish, but u should better go to an authorized dealer (a pro one), i have my doubts because a dealer doesnt usually have pros in his team but good tools.

How was this resolved? I've had this problem 3 times now and always at a stop where there is frequency transmission, as a parking gate and key card, or a stoplight. Could there be frequency crossover issues?

I do not mean to get too far off topic but my 2012 TSX SE 6-spd does keep the revs up in between shifts.
I have never experienced a car with a manual trans. hold revs in between gears.
Another words when accelerating moderately (ex. 3000RPM), you put the clutch pedal down (foot off gas pedal) and shift to the next higher gear (lower numerically) like 1-2, 2-3, etc. the engine maintains the rpm you were at (3000RPM).
The car does seem smoother this way as you catch the car in the fatter part of the torque band. Just a little odd.
Now if you do not put it into gear for 5-8 seconds the engine RPM will drop to idle.
Most cars I have owned always drop RPM fast between gears.

I wonder if this little blurb from the TSX brochure might explain it: "Gear changes are made smoother with multi-cone synchronizers for the first four gears."

I have no idea what that means.

Multi-cone syncros are inside the transmission and are used quite often in modern cars to make quick gear changes smoother.
It would not have anything to do with the engine itself holding RPMs longer.
The PCM must be causing the engine RPM issue.
Not that I think this is a problem with the car, I believe this is the way Acura intended it. As I drove another 2012 6-spd. SE before I purchased mine.

We had some snow here just yesterday and I had to drive to the gas station to get gas for the snow blower. Anyhow this was the first time I ever drove with my Tims on. I totally was on the gas and brake at the same time when I would put my foot on the brake. To the OP sounds like the same thing I had happening. But mine is a manual so it went way above 1,000-1500 rpm.
