How to Renew Your XM Radio for $77 a year.

Burning Brakes
Called in two days after my subscription expired. Told them I got a card saying "Come back for $77." I took two minutes and I was back on XM. No promo codes were asked for....just my XM radio number, credit card no and I was finished....also added Nav Traffic too.

Yes, I finally got the ~$125 per year deal (includes Nav traffic). The key is to wait for your subscription to expire...emails, cards and phone calls were made to solicit my return. All of these "we want you back" solitations were only for 3 month specials. I just asked for the $77 per year deal and they agreed to it...and yes, I too, was not eager to re-subscribe at the regular rates.

BTW I let my trial subscripton run out, but never received any offers from XM to re-up. So I called and told them what I wanted and they gave me the promo rate. Two days ago I got a call from XM asking me if I wanted to renew my subcription. They didn't believe me when I told them I had already done it. Obviously they have a communication problem,so I say more power to the subscribers!
Thanks to everyone on this thread for the great info.
2005 Dealer Demo RL
Purchased 1 year ago with 5000 on odometer for $41K plus tax and tags
Today just rolled 32,000 miles.
I love this car. I commute 110 mile per day and I love every minute of being in this car.
No issues other than the outrageous prices my dealer charges for simple oil and filter changes.

Worked - no problem
My subscription ended a couple days ago. Yesterday I called the special number and used the script posted here.
Worked like a champ. Renewed for $77.00 per year and 3.99 per month for the NavTraffic.
Thanks to everyone for their help with this.

Readers will note that success comes from following the instructions and not from winging it with a hybrid script. Most importantly, do NOT tell them you heard about this on an Acura forum. We don't want to kill the golden goose.

Will this work for renewing before the end of the trial subscription?

Just wanted to say that the $77. renewal still works. My free first year of XM should have run out about a week and a half ago, but everything kept working for a week after that. I thought that maybe it was because my radio was replaced in October, and I was getting another free year from October. But two days ago as I was driving down the road, my display said "updating" and my free XM was gone. So today I called the 800 number provided here and got the $77. promo. No problems.. Thanks to everyone.

I'm two weeks from expiring my three month trial on my 2006 TSX. I did not need to mention zwinback, just said I got the promo flyer. The operator processed the 77$/year package deal to my account.
Good luck!

Live traffic is extra, however. See above.

Another Year
I took one for the team. I let my subscription expire for a couple weeks (I was on the $77+$47.88 for NavTraffic last year). Lo and behold, I get a nice card from XM with two special welcome back offers.
One side of the card looks like a box of chocolates with a few XM channel names on them, and the other side offers $4.99 per month for three months OR just underneath that it says"Extended Savings. Get Half Off For A Full Year." Called the number (866-576-1422) and had no trouble renewing XM/NavTraffic for another year at $124.88!

FYI- I just today received the $77/year flyer from XM in the mail. My free 3 month subscription from the dealer ran out around January 1st and I haven't renewed it yet. The current flyer says the offer ends March 15th, but I'm sure it will go longer than that...
I got the $4.99/month for 3 months flyer maybe 3-4 weeks ago.

XM mailing as of March 2:
3-Mo XM Radio = $38.85
Above + NavTraffic = $50.82
1-Yr XM Radio = $142.45
Above + NavTraffic = $190.33
2-Yr XM Radio = $271.95
Consider pending XM & Sirius merger proposal in pricing decision.

Ouch, going up!
And the new '07's come with only three months free XM + Traffic.
So in June, I'll need to 'renew', but $190 is big step up from $125 for a years worth of XM and Traffic.
Seeing as how I rarely listen to XM, and traffic coverage in Atlanta stops just 5 miles south of the area I commute in, they might not get a renewal from me.
I'd pay $35/year for traffic coverage alone, just as insurance for those rare times I do go into town. But otherwise, not worth it to me.

Another data point here. Renewed this week after my sub had lapsed in February. Called the number followed the script and got the $77 rate plus the ~$4/mo for navtraffic. This is the second year I've gotten it - last year I did it prior to the expiration.

FYI, I *think* he offered me a 3-year prepay option for $199, but his english was difficult to understand, hence I may be mistaken.

I am pleased to announce that this just worked for me. I followed the instructions and it went through very smoothly. I also added the NavTraffic for $3.99 per month. Thanks for the tip!!

Still works while being 100% honest w/ 2 Radios!!
Called the secret number 800-682-4114 and just let them know I was a few days away from expiration on my RDX XM radio, but "have some friends who also have Acuras that let me know they recieved a prop mailer with the $77 deal". So they set me up BEFORE my XM subscription even expired. I then asked to add another Radio that I let expire back a few months ago and they added that to promo too. So 2 radios for $77/year each ($154 total). Pretty decent deal I think.
Thanks Acurazine for saving me about $140!!

This STILL works
$77 for the radio subscription and $47.18 for Nav traffic. My trial subscription had not expired yet, but the operator did not know the difference.
Thanks for the money saving tip!!!

Renew XM and Nav Traffic
Same here - renewed today with same deal using account number instead of radio number. They tried to offer me the more expensive "specials" but I told them I wanted the $77/yr XM and $3.99/month Nav Traffic and they immediately agreed and put it on the card. Thanks folks!

Questions answered!
I just called in for my brother-in-law for his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck. His three month trial had expired.
I called the number and I read the script as posted here.
The girl did not ask for a promotion code; only the radio code.
She then took my credit card information.
Then, she offered me an XM radio receiver with a vehicle kit, a docking station complete for $ 5.99. That involves a second subscription which was $84 a year.
That's all there was to it.
To those of you who insist on winging it with your own approach, good luck. Some of you get it and some of you don't. I prefer to use the tried and true methods that work nearly every time.
The only thing we ask is that you don't go all cavalier like they owe you the deal and tell them that you heard about it on the Internet or on Acurazine.
I have said this dozens of times: this is not a well-known, up front promotion. Many of the Customer Service Reps don't even know about it until they check it out with a supervisor. If XM suspects this promotion is being bandied about the Internet, they could slam the door.
We want to tread softly so that we do not kill the Golden Goose. Please be considerate.

"My "friend" said you offered him a special first year price of $77 to sign up after his trial period expired. I still have time left on my trial but I wanted to see if I can get that price. Can you do it". Her response; "You're right, it's a special promotion we offer to get people to sign back up, but since you mentioned it, I can give it to you too."
I still have 2 months left on my trial but I'm already signed up for another year at the $77. The new year doesn't start until the trial period ends.

Mikey:
As I said, when folks "wing it", some get lucky and some don't. I'm happy it worked out for you but there are plenty of folks for whom it didn't.
There are several call centers across the globe taking these calls and hundreds of Customer Service Reps. If you catch one in a bad mood - one who burned the toast or stepped on the cat this morning, you will get blown off. They have their own scripts to follow.
Some make you touch all the bases and others are kinder and gentler.
In the end, if you get the deal, "mission accomplished".
