Cadillac STS News **'07 Revision Spied Nearly Exposed (page 8)**
In the second half of 2004, GM will replace its Cadillac Seville with an all-new model, expected to be called the "STS," which is shown here as a first prototype in the vicinity of GM's Detroit headquarters.
The STS will be based on GM's Epsilon platform, and sports a Northstar V-8 engine and rear-wheel drive. It will have a significantly bigger cabin than the smaller CTS.
The STS will also feature Cadillac's bold new styling scheme with sharp angular looks, vertically stacked headlights and thin rear lights, as introduced with the CTS, the XLR roadster, and the latest generation Escalade luxury SUV.
A special high-performance "STS V-Series" edition is expected to be introduced in 2005, and will feature a specially modified Northstar engine tuned to 400 hp.

Expected in showrooms late next year, the luxury midsize sedan adopts Caddy’s three-letter designation as an STS and the Seville moniker goes away (DTS takes the DeVille’s place in 2006 to make the changeover complete).
One GM official told us to think of the 2005 STS sedan as a stretched-out, more sophisticated CTS that will be positioned squarely against the 5 Series, much like the CTS goes after the 3 Series. It also adopts the CTS’s rear-wheel-drive setup, most likely magnetic ride control from the current-generation Seville and a sport-sedan tuned suspension.
In addition to sharing Caddy’s Sigma platform with the CTS and SRX wagon, the STS will get a version of GM’s new 255-hp 3.6-liter aluminum V6, also available in the CTS and SRX. Cadillac’s newly developed 315-hp Northstar V8, as found in the XLR roadster and SRX, will give the STS serious power, and a performance-oriented, 400-plus- hp V-series is slated to come out after launch, joining up-tempo V versions of the CTS and XLR.
As for taking a shot at the 5 Series, we hear that the public’s initial chilly response to the 2004 BMW 5 Series exterior is seen by GM management as something that potentially opens a door for the STS. The positive response to the CTS and the move to rear-wheel drive will also lend credence to the effort. Currently, 5 Series sales nearly double the sales tally of the Seville in the United States.

Interesting.
This extrapolation looks totally logical with clues taken from the CTS and the SIXTEEN concept. I think no matter how made-up this is, it must be close to what we will see.

I think with the continuing decline of German quality and the great reviews that Cadillac is getting, I feel it will start turning around for Caddy

Although still draped in camouflage, the upcoming 2005 Seville replacement, the STS, was undergoing some testing when our spy photographer nabbed this shot. Continuing Cadillac's 'Art & Science' design theme, the STS wears similar lines and features to the CTS, SRX, and XLR.
Testing under the codename S6S, the rear-wheel-drive, Sigma-based STS will be powered by a massaged 4.2-liter Northstar V-8 engine, and will come with Magnetic Ride Control.
The STS is expected by mid 2004 as a 2005 model.

Sorry absolutely hate the styling direction they have gone. The Convert looks pretty nice and the escalade and the other new truck coming out look okay but hate it on the sedans. Not a fan

That interior looks worse than the current model. Straight lines are hard to work in an interior, look at the new BMWs. U got to be careful.
I am not total fans of the square shit but I must admit it says CADILLAC. You can now spot one easily from the crowd.

I like the exterior. Interior looks okay, but I was expecting more. Hopefully the quality of the materials has increased.
I am starting to warm to the new Caddy designs. I think it works well in the CTS-V, SRX and SLR
