182,000 and still strong.... No problems until last month. But the valve adjustment at 135,000 was way worth it. Ran like a champ for a while but eventually blew the motor... But project in progress now

Oh yeah, the rear element in the seat heater doesn't work anymore, and sometimes when I turn up or down the volume with the steering wheel it changes the radio station.

New HIDS is what I need to do next.

Mine have ran strong for 10 years now, but they are pretty dim.

Hey guys this is my 1st post so bare with me...
I own a 2000 acura tl with 161,000

Reapirs So Far:
- All Motor Mounts
- All Transmission Mounts
- Valve Gaskets
- Camshaft Seals
- Timing Belt
- and of course regular oil changes, filter, and trans flushes

Repairs That Still Need to Be Done:
- Check Engine p1457 Evap Code: I was told it was the evap canister shut valve about a $50 part and 100 install...
- SRS LIGHT was told that it was the OPDS Sensor and UNIT in the passenger seat, would have been covered had i only had 150,000 miles but dealer estimated prices to fix from acura was about $900 and honda dealer charging $800 still too expensive to fix

2003 TL Type S

231,XXX miles. I pretty much have done nothing to the car other than routine maintenance. The dealer has replaced 6 transmissions, and I paid out of pocket for 1. I feel that the eighth transmission is the charm.

I just hit 190k on my 99 last week and the motor runs very strong. I replaced my tranny at 143k and the new rebuild still works great. I've replaced a lot fo chassis and suspension parts as I like my car to run and drive perfect. It's been a great car.

i'm at 142k on og trans. the tranny started acting up recently though with typical slippage symptoms and loud clunk going into R. it was my dad's old car but now i'm trying to sell my 98 corolla to raise money to rebuild the trans cause other than that the car is great.

also what are the signs of a bad motor mount? when i hit a bump i hear a thud coming from under the hood is that a sign?

The side one fails IMO because the front is broken and the driver doesnt know it, so it carries more load then fails too

the normal 2 person `stand on the brakes as apply gas while in gear and watch the engine for movement` method works for checking the mounts integrity

Noise over bumps -have the suspension checked, ball joints, sway bar end links etc

Only 122,000 on my 99/Built in Oct. of 98 so it's over 11 years old.
1.Front and Side Motor mounts. $135.00 Side was ok but replaced it anyway. Front was Shot/leaking oil and wasn't working.
2.Windsheild Wiper Arms on the motor assembly. They were getting sloppy. $48.00
3.Servo Motor on Pass. side/heater control $113.00
4.Cleaned EGR Valve. $10.00 Bucks/2 cans of throttle body cleaner.
5.Cleaned the Servo's on the top of the tranny. The screens were not clogged but after spraying the assembly with cleaner and reinstalling it/the tranny shifted smoother. FREE!
6.New HID bulbs at the 10 year old mark. $88.00
7.Other than this stuff/regular maintenance. Tires/Tail light bulbs/Plugs/oil changes/wiper blades etc.
It's been a great car so far/tranny still shifting perfect=4 speed.
Things that need done.
1.Door pillars are fading bad.
2.Timing belt / water pump real soon.
3.New Thermostat/I'll install that.
4.New Rotors and break pads. I have 92,000 on Acura Pads and rotors. They were replaced by the previous owner at 30,000 due to repeatedly warping. Brembo Blanks and Acura pads. They are about down to the Squeal bar. Checked them a few days ago.
5.A few dash board raddles behind the instrument cluster but only when it's cold out. Driver's seat is starting to squeak. Sun Roof sliding cover, had to lube that to stop the squeaking noise. Fixed the drivers seat belt rattle by taking off the panel and bending something/forgot/that was 4 years ago.

Hey everyone,

I'm aware this probably doesn't belong here but it seemed like a good place to ask. I am about to inherit a 2000 TL from the parents; it has 99,000 miles on it. (Commute is like 5 miles a day) Before I leave for college, what problems should I be looking for? Everything is stock minus the usual stuff: brakes, timing belt.

I have gathered from this thread that I should check the mounts for leakage. Any other problems that can be noticed/fixed before they get worse? Just want to get any repairs done before it's "mine."

No problems up until the idle started going wacky. My dad and I are going to clean up the idle control and intake and put in thermo block spacers this weekend.I have also heard much about "seafoam," which is supposed to make the car "like new," is that a good thing to do?

99 w/ 182,000 mi.

Over the past couple days I...
1. just finished changing the tranny fluid (only 1x3 method)
2. changed oil and added 1 qt. slick 50 oil treatment
3. wetsanded the headlights and repolished them
4. fixed the heated seats( wires had burned thru)
5. replaced clock led (was burned out)
6. replaced cabin air filter
7. added bottle of seafoam to gas tank
8. changed spark plugs
9. cleaned manifold and EGR port( so much crud in there!)

Next things to do...
1. change all rotors/ pads
2. get new hid's(going w/ 6k)
3. install fogs w/ hid's
4. replace ball joints, and motor mounts
5. declutter the inside LOL

Have also replaced motor mounts, passenger ballast, Evap Canister, and cleaned EGR passage twice since I got it with 150k miles.
Navigation screen has a dot the size of a dime on it, so I guess it's on its way out.
that makes me feel better i got 113xxx and on the original tranny. Hop it lasts!!

kids has 185K - 99'

on the second timing belt, I don't know what you guys are waitin on, that belt breaks and buy yourself a new engine...

We did normal replacement stuff, belt, waterpump, tensioner, axle shafts, dumb stuff, and he does all the routine maintenance on time, we are on the third set of plugs and a new air filter once a yr.

Been a real good car for us ...still on original tranny
