The Mark V GTI is a good car with a fairly dated and plain interior. You really shouldn't have a ton of issues with them provided you find one that's just been driven a lot and not molested.

Looking locally, it seems like $8-10K, MT, 4-cylinder gives you the pick of Scion TCs, Audi, TTs, and 07-08 Civic Si Coupes.

I would personally stay away from older GTIs, if your budget is $10K.

Yea, I'm not doing any of that.

Go do your own research, before you make ignorant comments. I actually don't care what you call me. I'm still gonna call you ignorant.

1. Under 10K price tag
2. Manual
3. Reliable
4. Under 130K milage
5. Powerful
6. 4 Banger
7. Looks nice (I know that's subjective)

I know reliability can't be a 100% given but seeing as how most cars I'm probably looking at are gunna be in the 90k and up range, I really dont want to shell out big cash for repairs down the road.

Numbers 1,2 and 3 are the most important to me. I know the milage will vary, but I would like to steer clear from anything over 130K. If the car is really good with low milage, I'd pay a bit more. As far as number 5 goes, I want something sporty to drive. As this will be my main car to use, I would like to punch it and have some fun every now and then. Maybe something between 180-200hp. Number 7 goes with number 5. Its going to be my main car so I want something nice looking, not ricer toyish. As for the engine size, all my driving is done in the city and with my current car, I fill up 55-60 bucks a week, every week. So I would really like a 4 banger to save on gas.

I was leaning towards an Acura RSX but I wanted the 05-06 and those go for about 13-15, so no go there. I've been also looking at GTI's, Mazda 3'S, Corollas. My mind is basically everywhere and I need to narrow it down because I'm hoping to purchase said car in the coming weeks. Oh, and the cheaper the better lol

Thanks for your help ahead of time.

I guess you guys are to idiotic to read between the lines, I'm assuming the OP had no idea about the Vettes gas mileage, therefore he never considered it a choice. That's the thinking of most people when they here V8. Look at that kid with a Mazda, he has no clue but thinks he does.he was wrong about the Vette and then wrong about NJ. I guess he's just bad at life and ignorant. The Vette is a great alternative to a S2000 or Miata and offers a larger aftermarket and more power while getting similar gas mileage. That's a no brainer for me and the reason I own one.

I have a friend with a race prepped Z06...and 2 race prepped Miatas, one of which has a racing pedigree fem its previous owner.

Put either on the right style course with the right driver...and the Miata will win every time.

But I don't expect ignorant vegetables to know that.

a 2003-08 Accord with an I4 will meet your needs, they have a decent amount of power and will return excellent gas mileage...

a turbo 4 will in my experience return fuel economy similar to that of a V6 that is naturally aspirated so I would not rule out a V6. I routinely top 30mpg on the highway in my 02 CLS and that is a heavy car (3.5Klbs)

this is my recommendation for you 2008 accord I4 $9,995 and 66K miles

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1

if you really MUST have a manual, then this 2007 Accord with 78K and a manual will do the job for $8995

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1

These accords still have the awsomess of the double wishbone suspension and that makes them pretty fun to drive

66k miles on an Accord is nothin! Fantastic value right at 10k as well....BUT, me thinks you should look at the condition of the car.

FWIW there is no such thing as a AT RSX type S and there never was. It was only available as a manual, if you wanted an automatic you could only get a base RSX.

If you don't see DC530 in the VIN, it's not a type S.

most people who aren't missing limbs could eat your lunch on a race track in the 2 cars mentioned above..
I would hope for some long straight aways and mostly long swooping turns. when it comes to twisties, power is no longer the pinnacle of a car.

keep your power on the dragstrip and leave the driving to cars that were built to drive.

Anyone else remember buying a slurpee then thumbing through the actual autotrader/classic car trader/motorcycle trader in the convenience store, enjoying the air conditioning...maybe or maybe not ripping pages out.
