So, when I turn on my rear defrost in my 2004 TL, the radio cuts out almost completely. Additionally, the speakers put out an ambient hum only when the engine is turned on. Pretty annoying, and I'm hoping for a fix.

My radio gets static when my rear defrosters are on. I checked the ground on the defrosters, but it still a problem. Hope to get some solution soon. Good luck.

Are you saying it turns off or that you lose reception? Do you have tint on the rear window? There are cases reported where the tint can cause that. Especially metalized tint

I lose much of my reception. I do not have tinted windows.

Ive got the same problem...My radio will come in just fine and as soon as I put the rear defrost on it becomes all static. Oddly enough, the same thing happens when I have a phone charger plugged into the plug in the arm rest. If it is just the plug in the outlet, the radio is fine. As soon as i plug the cord into my phone, the radio becomes static. There has to be a way to fix it.
