What do you call the missing piece here?

See photo below. I found today this piece had fallen off my rear driver's side door (probably yesterday)—the little cap-like piece behind the door handle. I want to get it fixed ASAP but I found myself wondering if there is a name for the part. Thanks in advance.

(The car was in the garage when I took the picture, so you're seeing the reflection of stuff there as well as my reflection.)

It's called a "door handle cover."

Should be @$16 at the nearest Acura dealer, along with the metal base which you won't need, if this is the first cover failure you've had (some cars had bad bases that had to be replaced early on, so there was a TSB.)

For an easier re-install, see post #47 in https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/rear-door-handle-cover-part-fell-off-w-pics-please-assist-777860/.

Thanks for that. In theory mine is covered by that TSB since I have a 2004, but the TSB IS seven years old now..... Guess I'll see on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thanks again to all for the info. Had to special-order the part. Oh well. I suppose I could call the other local dealer down in Woodbridge, but that's too much trouble due to all the road work between here and there.

Mine fell off last month thus I ordered mine and the dealer installed and even glued it on to make sure it wouldn't come off as easily next time. The part was a few bucks and the install was free!

Replaced all of mine from my 04 figured out after washed my car one of them was just hanging came out to $20 a pop from the dealer. Some people are saying theres a TBS for these and the deal should just give them to you no charge not really 100% sure. Also not clear of how TBS really work

It's called a TSB - Technical Service Bulletin. It's published by the manufacturer to alert/make sure the Service teams are aware of patterns of problems they are seeing to help with diagnosis. There is nothing to say that it has to be covered under warranty or anything like that but sometimes it can be "goodwilled" with appropriate approvals.

just glue it back on.. That's what I did. The dealer said that's what we do.. I was like oh? And then he acted like he let the cat out of the bag when he said that.. So, I just cancelled my order and glued mine back on. Then he was like,, uh well.. uh... ok... hahaha

Mine's fixed. The service advisor to whom I spoke when I called, prior to being transferred to the parts department, commented on what a stupid design it is because the repair manual calls for removing the inside door panel just to replace a $20 part.

I notice the one on the passenger-side rear door is loose but hasn't fallen off, so I may see whether I can get some glue under there without removing it. Might wait a few days because the forecast is for rain tomorrow and I'd rather not drive it in the rain the same day I do something like that.
