I'm still around.

Timing belt service! (again) - with all the fixins, water pump, other belts, seals.
Also resurfaced the front rotors and new pads. All in for $750.

Chassis will roll over 200k in a couple of weeks. The engine has about 55k on it. '98 5-speed - runs like a dream. I wish I hadn't dinged the body in a couple of places. Oh well.

I'm figuring to drive it at least three more years, to the 260k level, but she's got quite a bit more life in her than that.

Changed the radiator cap yesterday, suspected it may have been too old.

Today I tried washing to old cap to store it away, and the plastic tip just crumbled away. Wondering what other unsuspecting pieces may be on their last leg..

It was a pretty big ass mailbox...

That's not the exact one but same size. This was the aftermath of the actual one.

Haha nah, the buck ninja steered.. I was going quick in a neighborhood full of deers like a dumbass, saw the buck to my left running forward along the fence then right as I was about to pass it darts out onto the road, I swerve to avoid but both left wheels go into the gravel and couldn't get out of the gravel/grass slope fast enough to avoid the mailbox.

I loved that S2000 so much and had a great 2 and a half years with it but it's ok, it's only a possession, nothing more. If the buck waited a little longer to dart out could have gone up my hood and been much worse for me so there's that.

But as I move on from one vehicle I don't like getting the same thing as I always have such a strong attachment to my cars I feel that the next S2000 wouldn't be the same and I'd be damned if I ever downgrade so I have been looking over the last couple weeks for something nice, test driving many kinds of cars from 370Zs, to a Genisis, from Laredo to Dallas waiting to finally drive 'the one' that I knew I could spend at least another 3 years (hopefully more this time) with. Interestingly enough, when I was coming back in town from checking out this super clean 370Z I got a call from someone that I didn't expect to hear back from as I offered such a super low price than what it was worth so I have enough room for him to haggle up a little and it was a car way out of my price range but if the price was right, I would pounce on it, I just didn't think that he would ever agree to go so low, but he did. Met up at a Target parking lot on the way home and when I was pulling into the parking lot and my lights lit up his car it was shining ALL OVER like a brand new car from the body, wheels, and exhaust to even the tires and brake calipers! Just then I remember thinking "If he's seriously going to accept my lowball offer that he agreed to and that everything checked out on the test drive and pre-buyers inspection then this is DEFINITELY the one." To make a long story short, it looked and drove like you would expect a 37k mile car to look and drive. My mind was blown.
So there was one thing that did bother me about the car that I notice during the test drive and that was the magnetic selective ride control error that are sometimes pretty common with the first year of the C6 with magnetic selective ride control that was a must have for me. It is awesome technology that makes your sports car ride like a luxury car but corner like a race car. Anyway, the car is still in warranty so I'm going to have him take it to the dealership to get that taken care of since it's still in warranty. I of course didn't buy it on the spot as I know that the magnetic selective ride control is ridiculously expensive to replace or fix if I were have to deal with it so I made a deposit to make sure it doesn't go anywhere else and the appointment is Monday morning and Monday can't come soon enough!
Here's some pics of the new hotness.

Here's what's in it, giving it 400rwhp to those fatass rear wheels.

-Corsa exhaust
-America Racing headers and x-pipe
-Vararam snake charmer ram-air intake
-Baer slotted and cross-drilled brakes (installed less than 1 year ago)
-Hawk HPS brake pads (installed less than 1 year ago)
-Ram 650 HP clutch, master cylinder, and flywheel (installed less than 1 year ago)
-Clutch hydraulics remote bleeder
-Tick performance adjustable slave cylinder
-Lloyd rear cargo mat

My wife's 1997 Cl 3.0 got impounded for being disabled on the side of the road with no one in it (I got to it a little too late). Turns out the drive belt snapped because of a suck tensioner pulley. So, no alternator working in the car.

Jumped the battery with my minivan till I thought the battery was fully charged, then drove it six miles home, made it without issue, then used a battery tender to charge the car battery. Took 4 days lol.

Now, the fun begins: new oil pan, cat, O2 sensors, timing belt/water pump/tenioner and pulleys, cam and main seal, power steering pump rebuild, head and valve cover gaskets, front passenger axel, brake pads and rotors on all 4wheels, replacing ball joints, boots, bushings, etc.

I'll be making threads as I do the work, and will need help making a time frame as to when my wife can drive it again.

There is no access to the fuel pump through the back seats like you will find in other vehicles.

The Gas tank has to be dropped, that's the ONLY way to get to the fuel pump in our cars.

Purchased my CL3.0 brand new--the best car i've every owned...but now i am having issues that i hope someone is familiar with.
Sometimes the gear shift locks and i have to use the key in the shift lock to get in gear and the speedometer and cruise stopped working as well as the gears are shifting hard.
What might that be ?

It's the shift engagement switch behind the brake pedal. They're notorious for going bad in our cars.

Do you have to manually time these engines or is there no need to adjust the distributor?

Been a while...

I met the next owner of my CL a few years later playing hockey. He fixed all the rust and repainted it. He told me it was a great car and gave him no troubles. His daughter was caught in a pile up but walked away unharmed. Even with all the damage the car was still drivable haha. He says the CL is up in Northern Ontario racing around dirt tracks now.

My Civic started leaking coolant from the block. A manufacturing defect which I was out of warranty for. Which sucked because I just did the AC and steering rack... Upgraded to a 2016 Golf R 6MT.
