transmission covered outside of warranty

Has anyone had the transmission covered by Acura outside the 109,000 warranty. Mine is going bad and I have 132,000. I was told that some have been successful but wanted to know if anyone else was and what they did to get it covered. Thanks!

cars are 13-11 years old and it is going to be harder and harder to get acura to cover it.

You're not a dick, you just don't belive in the power of wishful thinking, or to put it in more realistic terms, not taking no for an answer.

A year ago my p.o.s. tranmission took a shit. I opened a file with Customer Relations and wasn't satisfied with their offer so I appealed to a higher authority, that being the man who's signature was at the bottom of the p.o.s. transmission extended warranty letter.

When it was all said and done Acura picked up 55% of the cost on a factory new remanufactured transmission and a new ECU/PCM.

I had my transmission go out last year, ONLY 80K miles! I contacted Acura corporate, and pleaded with them for a few days, and told them that between my immediately family, we had owned about 10 Honda/Acura cars. I had every window sticker, info, make, model, etc. I faxed all of that to Acura. They said they would cover ONLY 40% of the bill, crazy. I'm still pissed about it. $3200 I still had to pay. If I have this car 5 more years, this should have NEVER happened! Contact Acura corporate, go from there......

73,000 km and two years out of warranty. I sucked up the 55% Acura saved me and put it in my pocket.

What'd you get? Oh, right. SFA.

You might try a little harder at not sounding like a dick.

you still paid over 2 k

and actually i got my trans rebuilt by the mechanic who is a master tech at acura for 1600, cause he did it at his house instead of letting acura (his dealership) rape me.. which beats what u paid still.. and i only made one phone call.

and i got a new front trans mount at the same time put in for free since the old one was already out.

my point is.. fuck the dlr. you can always do better.

when that one u have now takes a dump, then u will have to do something like i did, and likely it will be cheaper.

They wanted over $5300 to replace your tranny? You got raped there. For $3200 you could have had to redone elsewhere without a discount. Hell for even less than that. $2000 should be about it unless it ate everything in there and you wanted all new internals.

Acura helped me out a bit earlier this year on my low mileage car, but i still paid $3500 of it. I could have gotten a rebuilt unit somewhere else cheaper, but I wanted the peace of mind/3 year warranty from Acura. To me, it was worth the investment to get another 5 years out of the car.

Good marketing gimmick. Makes customers think they are getting 40-50 percent off when they really arent, and they are giving dealer more work/money. A win-win for the dealer.

I agree, it sucked, but now I'm covered for at least 3 years. Point is, this should never happened with the mileage we have, but yes I know the tranny issues are nothing new. My tranny had jus started to go out when I got it fixed, it wasn't totally f'd yet. Yep they quote full retail, then sometimes give you a deal thru Acura corporate, and make you think you got a bunch of money off. Its a terrible deal period!
