Cool XLR8 Mounts vs Innovative Mounts - FIGHT!

Hey guys

Well the TLS has been on the road since the 07 tranny swap for like 2000, running great. I think I messed up, well I know I messed up lol. I bought eBay mounts since mine were shot to hell, only 63k on the TLS to. I read a couple descent reviews on AZ and said what the hell, and I got them.

They were fine for like a month then I feel the motor vibrating a but to much. I put it in D with the brake held and it looked like the motor wanted to come out and go for a walk. So now Im stuck with these shitty mounts and I'm thinking of changing them again to something a bit stronger even though the ride quality will suffer because of the stiffness. I wouldn't care since I have Poly mounts in the Accord but this is the wifey's car, I talked to her the other day and she doesn't give a shit, just wants it fixed.

I did get scared way from Innovative because I saw a member here with a deformed mount after a couple thousand miles. But maybe it was a rare occasion so I need your opinions, which are better, XLR8 or Innovative?

XLR8 no question. They stand by their product and make good shit. At idle you'll get vibration but soon as you start rolling it will be smooth.

I was reading your comments on another thread, so you like them, your making me sway my vote lol. I had the mounts changed when the shop did my trans but I don't feel like paying for that, install wasn't to bad? Rear looks like the worst.

Yea the rear was a beast the first time. Now it wouldn't be as hard after having done it once. If you get the XLR8 mounts, assemble them before you install them. The bolt is so long you won't have room to put it in afterwards.

Thats true since all the bolts have been taken off, broken that factory seal lol, thanks for the advice

The look and construction of the innovative mounts just doesn't look top notch to me and the way they support the motor doesn't seem to make sense. The poly is positioned in a way that it looks like the motor pushes it out the bottom of the mount.

I'm going to run the xlr8 mounts, but I'm waiting to do them when I swap my motor. That way the install will be easy plus iirc the xlr8 minutes come with a lifetime warranty.

True, I looked at your front mount pic of the XLR8 mounts and it looks tough

Oh, what do you do with the vacuum hoses when the other mounts are gone?

^Just plug them.

I hear of fitment issues with XLR8 mounts, and you will get vibrations with them. Still, they are way better than innovative mounts. The innovative ones were just not made properly.

Cap the vacuum line at the steel part. Pull the rubber line off. Auto parts stores sell vacuum caps:

I capped mine off at the controller and completely removed the vac tubing all together.

Better to do that in case of mystery leaks in the lines

I'm going with a mdx 3.5 engine then having the heads ported and polished and installing 08 tl s cams on the car. Once I do that and finish up my last few mods I should have a pretty quick car if I can traction in first and second. I want the xlr8 mounts because they will be able to handle the abuse better and I'll be able to get more power down and better traction.

I got the newer vertical style inovative mounts for auto trans and could not be happier with my choice.

I do take the car to the strip so the car/mounts see plenty of abuse and I see no issues what so ever.

In between 2 times I went I installed the inovatives and reduced some weight and I picked up .23 in the 1/8 which is great. I think it would relate to .4 or so in the 1/4.

With numbers like that how could you not choose the inovatives ?

Sounds like you will have a very nice set up on your hands

Nice improvement with the innovative mounts, but I feel XLR8 is the way to go

sounds like you've been swayed by everyone else's opinions.

I'd like someone to give a solid answer though since the innovative mounts were re designed.

can anyone else chime in with the new innovative design? i'm in the market for mounts but only hear things about xlr8 good and bad. seems like most went with xlr8 but as a previous engineer designer the new design of innovative seems intriguing

I haven't gotten any feedback on the new Innovative mounts but we've consistently had good reviews on our XLR8 mounts. Beefier and bigger bushings and more durable.

Theyre both really good, Innovative just had a bad batch of polyurethane due to having a different provider at the time. You can't go wrong with either.

I've seen richardparker run at the strip He's legit!!!! I personally only have experience with xlr8 and could not be happier, you vibration at idle but moving there great! Either way your going to be way better off then with OEM mounts.
