Gear indicator

Occasionally while driving in D5 the indicator on the dash will go blank then when I wiggle the shift lever the light will come back on. This happens with nuetral as well. I can hear a solenoid clicking when "wiggling" the shifter.

Is my shift cable worn or is there a switch in the center console that is worn?

Thanks

May need to pull the center console cover and investigate the situation a bit closer. Perhaps a loose connector or something sticking ?

Turns out it was the transmission range switch that had fallen out of adjustment. Loosen 2 bolts and rotate the housing slightly. Very easy fix.
