218TL's headlights

218TL had started a thread a little while ago stating how he was having trouble with his headlights being aimed improper.

Here is the original thread

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/xenon-capsule-721150/

After looking at the output pictures and finding out that the car had been in an accident before I suggested that we fix the problem by opening the headlights and looking at the mounting tabs and horizontal aiming knob.

Once the headlights were here I was able to find many small issues with the set. Here are some of them

- There are two mounting tabs in each headlight to hold the projector assemblies in place, both in each headlight were broken.
- The aiming knob in the driver side headlight was broken.
- Main black bezels in both were cracked.
- Chrome bezel in the passenger side headlight was cracked.
- Water marks in each headlight due to headlight seal being broken.
- I polished both lenses from inside and outside to rid surface scratches and water marks.
- The body shop that had worked on the car in the past put in a broken D2R bulb in the passenger side headlight.

All of the above problems were fixed .

Here are some “before” pictures.

^^ Well if you can send your headlights in then I can take care of them and ship them back in 2 days. Your turn should be up in a week or two depending on how soon I get old headlights back from other members.

I took apart my headlights on my 300c, painted them and did the CCFL Halos on them, I hated doing it, such a pain..

I am definitely hiring you for my 4G TL once I have it in my garage..

Silent_TL's headlights

Silent_TL had a mishap while trying to clear his own headlights so asked me if I can work on a set for him. He damaged the underside of the driver side headlight, the oven shelf left an everlasting impression on it. Silent_TL bought a spare headlight off of ebay and shipped everything to me and asked if I can mend the existing damaged headlight if I can or else we’ll just modify the newly purchase replacement headlight, luckily I was able to fix the damage to a point where it wouldn’t affect the performance and durability of the headlight at the same time assuring a proper seal.

Details

^^ Here, let me help you. Headlights look great, make sure you aim them properly and adjust the height when you get a chance.

If you open the hood here is how the driver side aiming hole that leads up to the adjustment screw looks like

You'd need an average sized philips head screw driver to adjust the aim. Stick it in the hole all the way through till you feel it hitting the aiming knob, then rotate it to lower or raise the output according to the "U" or "D" indicated on the shrouding.

Follow the instructions below to aim

I think it should be fairly useful for members that want to use an aiming guide instead of asking around each time.

Drops from red line are the following.

DOT:2.1-2.5 inch
ECE: 3 inch

Anyone ever tried using these LED strips (http://www.superbrightleds.com/light_bars-flexible.html) [2nd down] since apparently the Oznium ones don't last too long. I'm looking to blackout my headlights and I really wanna go with the LED look.

If you are opting for the trade in program or if you are sending in your own headlights you'd have to buy all the components such as bulbs, zkw lenses, ccfls etc and ship them to me.

Yessir, you can add your name to the list, in the 06 trade in program section of the list.

Those are the same ones oznium sells, all these distributors get them from Taiwan from the same supplier.
