DIY - Repair Cat Heat-shield Tinny Rattle
We had a tinny rattle from underneath during cornering and reversing uphill.
The secondary catalytic converter has a thin aluminum heat-shield which bends easily. The corner of it was chafing on the heat-shield for the A/C drain:
Here is a close-up of the contact. The dent in the drain's heat shield is visible. To fix, simply bend the tab on the corner of the cat heat shield away from the A/C drain. Your hands or any kind of pliers should work:
Make about 8mm clearance and the noise should stop:

PM me if you need a reply
So that's where the rattle was coming from! It would rattle at idle and annoyed me so much!! I was afraid it was knock, ping, or something wrong with the turbo since it sounded like it came from that area.
I laid down some cardboard, crawled under, and fixed it in minutes. Thanks!

I think I've got this same dreaded rattle, but have yet attempted to fix it. Did anyone notice that the rattle is more audible after the car has been sitting for a long period of time? I hear it the most in the morning.

My heat shield was starting to rust off by the bolts.
I drilled 4 holes through the 4 layers.
I used scrap 12 gauge bare copper solid core home electrical wire.
Twisted each tight its 100% better.
