GeigerCars: Camaro Z/28 (based on Chevrolet Camaro) News

Press release...

– New LS7 power train with 507 HP and 637 newton metre torque
– Consequent lightweight construction reduces the weight of the vehicle by about 136 kilos
– Ceramic carbon brakes with 1.5 G deceleration continuously in use
– Power kit "Geiger Camaro Z/28" with 620 HP

With a circuit time of 7:37 minutes on the northern loop of the Nürburgring, Zuffenhausen got a new competitor, who should by no means be lightly dismissed. On the 20.8 kilometres stretch through the Green Hell that makes up the circuit, the car is about seven seconds faster than the current Porsche 911 S and so seamlessly joins the series of successes of the legendary Z/28 models that have been making history since 1967.

Mainly responsible for the superior performance of the new Camaro Z/28 is the sumptuous seven-litre V8 heart with dry sump lubrication. Thank to titanium inlet valves, aluminium cylinder heads and new high-lift camshafts, the optimised LS7 power train straps a taut 507 HP and a mighty 637 newton metre torque on the drive shaft. A Tremec 6-speed gear shift mechanism, a K&N cold air intake air filter and an optimised body aerodynamics allow for an extremely superior performance apportioning as well as highly efficient cooling and stability during prolonged high-speed runs.

But what is the benefit of the most powerful pump of the casing wraps with overweight around the engine? Weight reduction that is consequently aimed at boosting performance was, therefore, top of the list when developing the Camaro Z/28. By forgoing on a luxuries radio, electrical seat adjustment and automatic air-conditioning (only on request), the developers were impressively consistent in putting the performance of the vehicle in the limelight. Side windows that are 0.2 millimetres thinner, special Recaro seats and completely dispensing with lining in the boot made it possible to reduce the weight by an impressive 136 kilos, compared to the hitherto top model ZL1.

In this combination it ought to be mentioned that almost 20 kilogrammes could be saved by using 19 inch light metal rims.

High-performance engine and efficient weight reduction: The driving dynamical coexistence resulting from those components culminates at 1.05 G lateral acceleration and permanently available 1.5 G deceleration. The latter value is possible, because of the six plunger resp. four plunger ceramic carbon brakes from Brembo that, together with the specially by Pirelli developed semi slicks (Trofeo), attach themselves almost like chewing gum to the tarmac and are equally connected to the rear and front axles in the format 305/30.

To justify the claim of a real "Track Day" vehicle, the Camaro Z/28 has exclusive access to the Magnetic Ride Performance power train known from the Corvette C7 and to the adjustable "Performance Traction Management" (PTM) stability control with five settings, which has been specifically developed and tuned for the race track. And for those that are absolutely insatiable, Geigercars has a further card up its sleeve: the "Geiger Camaro Z/28".

Behind that names hides a performance kit that has been developed and specially tuned by the engineering team around Karl Geiger, with an increase to 620 HP at 6,500 revolutions and 725 newton metres at 5,600 rotations. The all-in price for engine conversion is 13,000 euros, incl. VAT at 19 %.

Geigercars have the new Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 in stock and it can be delivered immediately. The conversion time for a newly ordered "Geiger Camaro Z/28" is approximately two days.
