Tranny Oil Change? When?

I'm about 7 years old, 40K miles, original owner, and never changed the tranny oil yet, nor has the dealer ever told me to.

When should I change the oil? Car has no problems and shifts fine, I just figured its been a while and I would imagine the oil is worn down after all this time.

Does the car pop up an indicator when it senses it is needed, or is it something I should just do soon?

There is no indicator for transmission oil (as far as I know). Do it immediately since it's been 7 years. Do not flash just drain and refill.
I do it every oil change some do every other.

It is flush that is not recommended you can flash it all you want.

So some say just change, others are saying do a 3X change? What does the dealer typically do, flush it? How hard is it to do on my own? Any DIY's or anyone have some quick tips? I recall watching a video on youtube and it looked pretty simple.

And what is flashing it? I obviously know what flushing is. Wasn't sure if that was typo or a process like the 3X change.

And change the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches, also a good synthetic fluid like Redline D4 /D6 will help the trans. live a long life. Never "flush" the transmission, just drain and refill with 3 qts, you can do this as many times as you want as you only can drain 3 qts. at a time, most recommend 3 times (3X3).

"3" comes up for tranny fluid.

I know it's overkill, but I do 1x3 every other oil change.

I would slowly start changing it. (1x3) IMHO of course.

Flash was prolly a typo.

I believe my trans flush was under B3, if you search for the code reference chart for the TL you'll be able to figure it out.

Question for you though: how are you able to reach the pedals?

So when you all say 1X3 or 3X3, does 1X3 just mean a simple drain and then a refill with 3 quarts 1 time? Seems like 3X3 (3 quarts, 3 times) and wasting all that oil would be a bit much, no?

About the pressure switches, is this common to do without any symptoms?

About Redline, is this definitely better to use than the Acura Tranny Oil? The car is out of warranty but I hope to keep it for a long time. What makes the Redline so much better? About the same cost?

1. 1x3 is simply drain and refill 3 quarts. 3X3 on the other hand is repeat the 1x3 three times. however, it's recommended to do your first one now. drive the car for a week, do the second one and wait another 1k miles to do the third one. that way it helps break in and wont damage your tranny.

2. the pressure switches is a preventive maintenance. most people wont even feel the different in shifting after the replacement. but it helps prolong the life of your tranny.

3. depends on your taste. it's also recommend to use 1 redline d4 mix 2 redline racing fluid because it reduces the slip and add little more fraction to the gear.
