the flex pipe has pulled away from the pipe, after being on the car only a week. PM me your email address for pics or if someone wants to host them I'll mail them to that person.
I called DC about this and they said pull the header and send it to us. I told them hell no, send me a new lower pipe and i'll send you mine when swapped. They expected me to pull the entire header back off to send back to "look at it" then they will decide if they will send me one. I sent them pics instead. From the pics it's very easy to see the separation. Will keep you posted.

Well today I was driving home from work and heard a louder than normal noise ... the rear section of the header has seperated. Has anyone had positive response from DC headers?

I got mine 2 months ago and I hope ... I won't see that same problem.

Took me a while and a lot of bitching to get mine replaced but so far the new one is working ok. My brother put 4 small tack welds on the inside of the pipe where it separated before so the extra welds would help keep the sections together. So far so good.

i am wondering if that was an defect in design, it can be a weak point and under stress it happened. but is the stress on the DC header created abnormal stress, too short, too long? sometime the weak area was design to protect other important parts, so instead of breaking other area that may cause expensive repair, sometime engineer design a weaker area to break under abnormal stress. i am not saying this was a "designed protection" but just thinking the original header maybe a defect in design, modified it/repair it without testing may cause other problem because now wield has strengthen the known weak area to endure stress but now other area may break if their design did cause abnormal stress.. just some thought help that helps!

I think your reading to far into it. It's just a shitty weld job from the DC Sports factory. When mine came apart you could clearly see it was not a solid weld at all.

Looks like the easy fix may induce more people to buy this product, But I've heard not only is there welding flaws but the header is about half an inch too short... anyone want to address this? Judging from what I've read so far DC sports must have spent about 15 minutes on R&D. I still say $#%^ DC sports they're not getting a dime from me.

Went to racing zone today in orlando, they said the header isnt bad. the problem with it cracking is the consumers fault not the products.. they said if the car is too low to the ground it might get cracked from banging it against the floor.. also if one bolts it on too tight, it may lead to cracking the header... but they said its a good purchase... hmmm, personally I'd go for it, and make them install it, and if it DOES crack have them replace it thru waranty.

Why not just get a different header? Why is DC so important that you'd want to go through the hassle of having it rewelded?
I'd go for comptech long before I went to DC but I still don't think the "perfect" header exists for our car yet.

what other companies could produce/ or have started the production of our header? DC sports is well credited. along with comptech... unless Toda comes out with one.. im expecting these two companies to give us the best bang for the buck.. also isnt the comptech header WAY more expensive than the DC sports? maybe thas a reason why people would go thru all that hassle to get the header.

I think all products have a certain amount of failure rate. It's obvious that DC/AEM needs to address their quality control of this header. However, despite the connector problem, DC headers do make nice gain for the money comparing to all other headers on the market (not limited to the TSX). I just bought a project car (93 Prelude) and will not hesitate for a second to buy another DC header if a good price is available. If we all use the same logic to judge a product base on a few problems, then we shouldn't be buying or keeping our TSX according to all the problems we see over at the Problems and Fixes forum. However, we know a good product when we see one and still believe the TSX is a great car despite a few problems...

I think the difference is that a header is so simple to manufacture that this kind of problem shouldn't have happened in the first place. Yet it did and the hassle that I-MOD went through to have it fixed didn't leave me with a good taste for DC.

Hi all, just wanted to let everyone know that i had the headers rewelded and it hasn't broken yet. I spent 100 bucks for cracked headers so I figure it will not be that bad if it cracks again. So far so good.

performance was pretty responsive/deeper throaty sound considering it's my first performance upgrade besides a short shifter. rpm definite rises up faster. I enjoy it.

It's probably cheaper than the shipping cost to ship the defective one back.

Mine just broke too.
They did not return a phone message but I got them on the sales
line and they passed me to cust service. They want the piece back to
repair or replace.
One way to get length is to remove the 1st resonator. I had my resonator
cut out already and will have to repeat the process to do this. With header installed,
cutting out resonator ( or pipe in my case ) and fitting staight pipe can get the
needed length.
The header made my car louder, it ran stronger and reved quicker, and much
desired more low end torque. I would
say it is a good header but the flex pipe needs more flexibility and more length.
The overall appearance of the piece looks good.
Really spoiled the fun of modifying, at least I can do one these swaps in < 1 hour now.

After reading thru this entire Post about the DC header I will never buy a DC product again. It seems to me that the reason why the header is such a bang for the buck is due to the fact that it is poorly made and designed. I agree it has something to do with the metal used, but anyone willing to actually buy a header or any other part made by DC after reading all these complaints is mentally ill. My friend, who baught the COMPTECH header, has had no problems at all and raves about the immeadeate power as he accelerates. I can't understand why one would go through the trouble... DC is permenantly taken of my buy list----> FOREVER!
