Need help finding a new car (for someone else)
Someone I know is looking for a new car to replace his BMW 750 IL, refuses to buy another BMW because the service is so shitty, won't buy a high end mercedes for obvious reasons (lemons), high end lexus models don't do anything for him, and won't buy a porsche or corvette because of the image associated with them and because he wants a bigger car.
so what does he get? Only thing left that I can think of is a Jaguar or high end infiniti (M45 maybe?), but I'm not sure on the reliability of jaguars or if he'll think infiniti's are nice enough. Personally I recommend a high end BMW (think M5!), but he can't stand BMW's service. Is he out of options for cars? I think the budget is around $100,000 but can go higher if needed...

Audi A8 is just amazing. One of the best looking cars on the road.
He could probably get a great deal on the VW phaeton, also just a monster of a car.
Jags are nice (good write up in the 1 year test in the latest C&D for the XJR), 0-60 in under five Reliability is way up compared to the past.

I think he's looking at the Jaguar XJRs or Super V8s, but I have to imagine the handling of a 4000 lb car sucks compared to a BMW, even if it is a massive BMW sedan, right?

You said it, he really is running out of options. With a budget like that there's a ton of cars to look at but he's limiting what’s out there.
A fully loaded M45 (has more interior room then the Q) would be a good choice when it comes out. However if he's curious about reliability first year cars, even after a refresh, can have their fair share of problems. Otherwise Infiniti’s are reliable. That being said Nissan/Infiniti's service is great so he's OK there. Unless he runs into a shitty dealership.
What about SUV's? Porsche Cayenne Turbo perhaps?

Ok, to answer everyone's replies all at once:
SUVs are out of the question
Lexus LS 430 - already has one, thinks it looks too plain and boring
Lexus GS 430 - daughter has one, thinks it looks like a kids car because of the sporty look (mixing sporty looks with sedan features) ((not that I agree))
M45 - maybe, have to see what if he wants to drive a 1st year model...
darkfox: I have a 99 TL with stock rims, tint, debadged, and dropped on comptechs. No tint on the front windows right now as I still haven't gotten it redone. I'm actually driving the GS 430 mentioned above right now, so if you see a young male in a 2003 black GS 430 (chrome 7 spoke rims + factory spoiler), that's me. The TL is currently garaged since it's leaking water from the roof and I haven't had the time to take it to the body shop that replaced the roof...

I also don't think he's trying to be unique (wants car to be 100% stock and look 100% stock), so I realize this is an almost impossible request (ie: ls 430 is boring but gs 430 looks too sporty, etc etc).

I like Opulent Blue pearl (but it's a shame you can't get a parchment interior with it on a $50K car).

Tell him to buy a white Mercedes Benz E55, then see how much of a lemon he's driving when he's zooming by 96% of cars on the road in an almost 500-horsepower sedan.
Since he has the ability to spend $100k and he doesn't want a Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Lexus, or any other high-luxury automobile because of problems that the cars may have (every car has problems, let's face it... we praise our Acuras and our trannies die every 4 days) why doesn't he just buy two cars at about $50k each and live the life? As for the cars I recommend that Quattroporte more or less because that was the first thing that came to my mind in this situation.

A friend of mine had a previous generation QP. He had to have the thing serviced at the dealer he bought it from in Atlanta. That's a six hour drive from here or a trip on a flat-bed truck. He considered it a hobby car and of course it was not his primary vehicle. Pain in teh butt but can't deny the exclusivity.
