Hehehe...that happened with the Miata as well, last year. What's the matter with these guys?

Original RX-8 horsepower ratings wrong so Mazda offers rebate

If you’re an RX-8 enthusiast who can put up with Mazda’s 1.3-liter twin-rotary engine not producing the horsepower as originally promised, it’s worth it to Mazda to keep you happy.
Mazda officials say after modifying the car’s powertrain control module to meet required federal emissions standards, the RX-8 with manual transmission is producing 238 hp, down from the promised 247 hp, while the automatic- trans model is down 10 hp to 197 hp. Mazda says the drop in power doesn’t affect the car’s 0-to-60-mph times, however.

To make amends with some 3000 RX-8 buyers who purchased the car or placed an order by Aug. 26, Mazda will provide a $500 debit card and free maintenance for four years or 50,000 miles. Still unhappy? Mazda will discuss repurchasing your car. Mazda’s offer is good until Oct. 1.

238 is still too high according to most people who have dyno'ed their cars. They are making anywhere from 168-180 wheel hp. Most people on the RX-8 board are guessing it actually makes 215-220hp

We knew it was not making any substantial torque figures, so now it's not even making any substantial HP? Kidding.
