I found this over on . For everybody that has posted in the ac failure threads ( hundreds of posts) you should join this lawsuit! I want my AC fixed!
LAWSUIT AGAINST HONDA AND ACURA RELATING TO DAMAGE TO THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM AND/OR CONDENSER

Our law firm has filed a lawsuit for alleged design defects affecting numerous Honda and Acura models, including the Accord, Civic, Odyssey, CR-V, Element, Fit, RSX, TSX, RL, MDX, and RDX, model years 2000 to 2008.
Due to the reported defects, the air conditioning system on the affected vehicles is easily damaged resulting in expensive repairs. Our investigation reveals that Honda typically denies warranty claims for these repairs.
If you have owned or leased a Honda vehicle that has had its air conditioning system and/or condenser damaged, and you are interested in learning more about how we can help, please provide the following information:

Very interesting. I've not yet had the catastrophic failure, but have been pretty much expecting it for a while now. *knock on wood*

Received lawsuit documentation

I received the class action lawsuit information in the mail today. They are agreeing to pay a % of out of pocket expenses based on the age and mileage of the vehicle. Once you hit 8 year/96,000 miles there is a 15% reimbursement.

Anyone else received this?

My AC blew out about 80,000 miles and Acura paid the parts after I complained, I ate the $1500 labor approx.

So, if the price of the parts Honda previously supplied for free as part of the entire cost to repair the AC was greater than the percentges agreed to this the suit, Honda would have already fulfilled its obligation agreed to in the settlement...ie....If parts were $1000 and labor was $1500 for repairing a 6 year old TSX, Honda would have already contributed 40% and the owner would not be eligible for any additional reimbursement?

I also got this, you can choose to submit your own claim with proper documentation asking to be reimbursed for said amount rather than "settling" for the % based on mileage/years, which is what I'm doing. I'm waiting for the additional quote from Honda for my condenser as well. Everything except my blower had to be replaced, condenser and compressor twice actually. I better get at least enough back to fix my car good enough to sell once I decide what the hell I want.

This is a load of shit, my A/C has been out for 2 years and I refuse to purchase all these new parts so I have just went without A/C. Now they have a class-action suit that only pays for 15%, just by having this done at the Acura dealership you are already spending 50% more than normal. What really bugs me is that the Oddesey that is also covered in this class-action suit, gets 100% coverage, everything fixed at no charge. I wanted to object the class-action but they make it pretty hard.

My, how times have changed. Perhaps it's the power of the Internet which have allowed customers to organize...

The 1988 Accord EXi that I had came with a two year/48,000 km bumper-to-bumper waranty...everything was covered, except for the A/C condensor, which was covered for only 40,000. My condensor went at 42,000 km, and I couldn't help but think that Honda "knew". $600 later, yes, I was pissed off, but it was a black car, and summer was just beginning.

I have 2006 .. Just rolled over 120xxx and my ac is acting a little weird.. It's no where close to being as cold as when I bought it last year. If I put it At low it feels like if it were 75.

Sounds like a leak in the condenser. We had to replace it in the 07 last summer (around $400, aftermarket condenser, independent shop).

I wonder if this is the customary class action arrangement. The lawyers get rich and us poor slobs get the crumbs.
