Hi from Fark. And for that matter, Penny Arcade. I have read this entire thread, one end to the other. Let's recap:
*Billy posts trash.
*Rachel eviscerates him.
*Billy stumbles around like a punch-drunk boxer, eventually sputters out a feeble apology.
*Rachel, amazingly, gives him another chance but emphasizes she's only there for the kid.
*Billy appears to be coming around. A bit.
*Internet at large catches wind of Billy's antics and Rachel's response.
*Billy forgets apology and shifts to trying to take on the entire Internet.
Billy, this is not a fight you're going to win. You think you're going to win it, but you're not. You think you're going on Letterman. Letterman doesn't give a damn, and if he did, I guarantee you you're not going on his show as a guest. You're going on as a punchline, if you're going on at all. Letterman's not having a guy on who's just going to smacktalk and work the bleeper all night long. If he's having anyone on in relation to this episode, it's going to be Rachel, not you.
You've had chance after chance to bail out of this entire affair, to apologize, run like a frightened rabbit, and meekly lurk while you spend the next couple years of your life trying to hide from the heat. But nooooooo, you had to go and actively take on 4chan of all people. The single dumbest, most self-destructive thing you can do on the Internet save for wiring money to deposed Nigerian royalty.
It is by the grace of God that they've elected to leave you be. Had they taken you up on your challenge, believe me, your life would be pretty much over from that point. Odds are it would end with you back in whatever country it is you came from (nobody ever said which one).
Eventually, and mercifully for you, eventually this will die down enough to where you might be able to rebuild your life. If you work at it. If you stop worrying so much about the car and give that newfound attention to a) your wife, b) your daughter, and c) your citizenship.
As for Rachel, well... she is out of your league. Clearly. She knows what kind of person you were, what kind of person you are, and she is clearly well-adjusted and self-starting enough to where I think she could easily find another. I have an aunt who's been in a somewhat similar situation, and she needed some convincing, but she left his ass. She's the best thing you've got going, not your Acura. Your daughter is the best thing you've got going, not your Acura.
Pray she doesn't ask too many questions about the "gifts" the rest of the Internet has apparently left for you. And pray she doesn't take up any of the numerous offers to take your place.
Because right now, there's not all that much that you can do anymore to redeem yourself except pray. You've closed off all your other channels.

I assume Billy's only still here because of the popularity of the thread. The longer he's here to mock, the more new members AcuraZine gets, and the more that might potentially stick around afterwards.

By the way, Astro, it should be noted that you've handled the sudden influx of visitors from every corner of the Internet with an amazing amount of grace. The rest of the mods backing Astro up, you guys have done a great job as well. This is just a crushing strain you've been under since the thread blew up, and, just, outstanding modding team. There are a lot of boards that would have cracked under the pressure.

Actually, the first post by Billy was on the 5th. Rachel's response was on the 7th. It really didn't start hitting all the boards until a couple of days ago. I saw it yesterday on a forum and posted the link on Fark. Epic results.
